I’m making good progress with my reading challenge, and my latest read (which I believe is number 34 of the year!) is Fault Lines by Emily Itami.
I really love fiction set in Asia, especially Japan and South Korea – I think the narrative padded by social issues and cultural differences is both powerful and engaging. Fault Lines really touches upon the expectations of life as a woman in Japan; the pressures of motherhood, the mundanity of housewife duties and regrets about giving up a career.
So far I’m about halfway in and very much gripped!
