My goals for the coming year…
After such a wild, turbulent, exciting and nonstop year last year, I’m hoping for the opposite in 2024. I saw someone say they don’t want to rock the boat this year, they just want to sit in it – and I can totally relate. I just want to cruise through the year!
With that in mind, I haven’t really set too many goals for the year ahead. I have some smaller, more manageable goals but nothing huge in mind. I feel content just pottering at home, spending time at the beach or in the garden and enjoying our new life! I’d love to make some progress with the house once we’re a bit more settled, but even then it’s only really decorating that I hope to do.
As promised, here’s a few things I hope to tick off this year…
Get More Organised
I’ve slowly been going around our home and organising drawers and cupboards, streamlining what I can and making sure everything has a home. I’ve realised a big part of why I sometimes feel overwhelmed with clutter is because we haven’t got a place for items, so they don’t “belong” anywhere. I’ve tried to streamline things like my pyjamas, shoes and workout clothes so I only have one or two of each item, which means drawers aren’t overflowing. I’ve also got a good system of storing away my summer items so I only have what I need available.
I’ve also set up Amazon subscribe and save for household items so we don’t run out, and made a grocery list and a list of meals, so that I can buy the same stuff every week. Here’s to working smarter, not harder!
Aim For Healthier Hair & Nails
I really like feeling put together in the most low maintenance way. For me, that means having nice hair and nice nails, but since becoming a mum I feel like I’m so short on time that everything get shelved.
This year I’m going to work on fine-tuning my at-home manicures and also stick to some healthy hair habits too. Each week (on a Sunday afternoon) I massage in to my roots and scalp, and to my ends and leave on for an hour or so. I can already see a difference, and it’s so low effort!
Stick To My Reading Goal
I think I read about 8 books last year, which is fair as it was a really busy year for us. However, I feel like I have a bit more time to commit to a more ambitious reading goal so I really hope to read 15 books this year. I adore reading and, to me, there’s no better feeling than when you can’t put down a book. Fingers crossed I can set aside more time for this!
Be Consistent With My Platforms
This is, and shall always be, my goal every year. I had a bit of a wobble with social media in 2022 and 2023, it just wasn’t making me feel good and I thought about deleting my platforms altogether. In the end, I had some time away, worked on myself and came back with more of a plan in place. Now I just want to commit to posting what I want, not caring about views, comments, opinions, the algorithm or anything else. I want to post for myself, and share more of what makes me happy. Here’s to pleasing yourself more in 2024!
Bring Back The Blog Posts
After flirting with Substack for a little while, I realised I really love writing. I’ll always be a big fan of sharing videos and photos on Instagram and TikTok, but I’m far better at writing than I am at speaking, so blogging comes more naturally to me. I’m aiming to post more lowkey posts this year, so let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see!
Here’s hoping it’s a fun year for us all! What are some of your goals in 2024?
