Bathroom Greenery.

18/10/21

I’m a huge fan of having plants in a bathroom, and I (sort of) designed our bathroom around the idea of having lots of leafy greenery sitting and hanging in this room.
We have a wet-room bathroom with a big window, and the tiled bench in our shower (which actually hides the plumbing!) is perfect for potted plants. It means they’re getting lots of light as well as water and steam from the shower.

My favourite plants have to be Pothos plants, also known as Devil’s Ivy. I have a few varieties, including a Marble Pothos and a Satin Pothos, both of which make great hanging plants and they’re also seriously easy to propagate to create new plants when they get a little bushy!

I also love ZZ Plants, I have one that I got years ago and it’s grown so much since! It’s easy to care for, and so pretty – he’s been in my shower for a few months now and he seems pretty happy here.

I also recently got this happy guy on the right, I think he’s a Peacock Plant – he’s very full and leafy so looks great in the bathroom. He seems pretty low maintenance so far, so let’s hope he stays that way!

I tend to rotate my plants so they all get a go in the shower – it means it’s an easier job for me when it comes to watering (so tedious when your home is basically a greenhouse!) and they seem to thrive better in here. My Swiss Cheese plants are also always happy near the window, with new leaves regularly cropping up in the warmer months.

I got some terracotta pots from B&Q and H&M so it looks a bit more uniform and styled in here – at one point it was getting a bit wild! Sometimes I have to move plants out or propagate them if they’re getting a bit overgrown and tickly, I find they all grow so much quicker in the bathroom.
It was a good idea to add the stool in here too, perfect for ensuring my ZZ gets enough light. Soon he’ll be taking over this room!

What do you think of plants in a bathroom?
