Currently on rotation in my wardrobe…
I don’t mean to blow my own trumpet here, but my wardrobe is poppin’ right about now! I always love the start of a new season for clothes shopping, especially the transitional time from winter to spring where you’re just desperate to get out of jeans and jumpers!
I thought I’d give you a rundown on my wardrobe staples – the pieces I’m reaching for time and time again at the moment…
The Midi Dress
A midi dress has got to be one of my most loved pieces in my wardrobe, I find them so versatile and flattering if you find the perfect fit (y’know, no gaping at the chest) and it makes getting dressed so much easier and way more fun.
Probably the best thing about a midi dress is how you can literally pair it with anything – from sandals to ankle boots and trainers. With the right mix of accessories, I can dress up my look or keep it casual depending on the occasion, which is perfect for me because I tend to wear the same outfits on repeat a lot!
My current favourite is this & Other Stories green floral number, I’m loving this dreamy sage hue at the moment and the fit on this dress is one of the best I’ve found. I’m hoping they release it in more colourways!
The Statement Sunglasses
Never ever underestimate the power of a pair of specs! I have so many pairs of sunglasses but my favourites are the ones that stand out, I think they work wonders for making a simple ensemble a little more interesting! This Gucci Cat-Eye pair are a long-time fave of mine, the timeless style updates any look.
The Basket Bag
I’ve made no secret of my love for basket bags, it’s an all year round love affair for me! Some of my favourites have been with me for a few years now, and the majority of these are ones I’ve picked up on Etsy, eBay or in Bali for pennies.
One I’m rarely without is this adorable Staud Macarame bucket bag, which I bought over a year ago and have used to death ever since.
I recently bought this undeniably beautiful Topshop macarame pick too – how perfect is this?!
The Statement Shoes
I’m forever championing ankle boots; a good pair of these cuties can be styled year-round and are perfect for that tricky winter to spring transition. Always a staple in my wardrobe, I upped my game this week with a pair of white heeled pointed boots which I plan to style up with a midi skirt and bare legs (if the weather picks up). Perhaps a tad ambitious living in Scotland, but a girl can dream.
The Classic Cardigan
Layering is a must for me when it comes to everyday dressing, and cardigans are something I find myself gravitating towards more and more. They are great for covering up when the sun goes down and also add a cosy, timeless texture – I occasionally wear mine off my shoulders for a bit more of a slouchy look.
The Finish Touches
From classic hoops to drop pendants, I am constantly swooning over gold jewellery and accessories! I have quite the treasurable collection now of subtle and distinctive pieces and they fit in seamlessly and add extra detailing. I recently made a list of my favourite everyday pieces here.
The Humble Headband
Equal parts functional, equal parts cool, headbands have made a massive comeback this year… I just wish I’d kept my personalised glitter number from the ’90s!
I recently got this cute velvet hairband, which not only keeps my hair at bay on windy days, it also helps to hide second-day roots like a dream. Smarts.
