My 5 product face…
Skincare is, and probably always will be, a tricky one for me; I love it so much that I want to try everything! Creamy cleansers, exfoliating peel drops, overnight resurfacing masks, eye serums, clarifying oils… my bathroom looks like the Selfridges Beauty Hall, and you better believe I want to apply a different ten-step skincare routine every night!
Sadly, I’ve come to realise that my skin wants a regular, consistent and low maintenance routine that is going to work but not overwork. No longer can I go in hard with whatever gold-topped bottle catches my eye that day, I have to stick with a few products that work together to make an impact.
Saying that, I’ve got myself an infallible lineup of products that are simple, incredibly effective, and work for my confused, blemish-prone complexion – and I’m sticking to it!
My Holy Grail Cleanser
Where would I be without this little number? I’ve been using the Oskia Renaissance Cleanser morning and night for as long as I can remember, I’ve been through countless bottles and I can’t imagine ever being without it.
I love the texture of this, it melts in to skin and rinses away makeup, leaving my skin feeling super soft and nourished with every use.
An Exfoliator With A Difference
As part of my ‘less is more’ skincare journey, I came across the Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains – the perfect addition to my routine as it’s not technically adding anything else in to the mix. I mix these in with my aforementioned wonder worker Oskia cleanser, and all it does is create a scrubby version to slot in to my routine.
I always feel like my skin needs a bit of exfoliating action once or twice a week, and these are a non-abrasive way of sloughing off dead skin cells and revealing a much perkier complexion underneath!
My Go-To Treatment
I was really struggling with spots recently, and I opened up a parcel that Pai had sent me and their wonderful Rosehip Oil was inside – something I loved so much at one point, but forgot about over the years.
One overnight application and my skin was the clearest it’s ever been come morning, I was in disbelief! Ever since then, I’ve been using it nightly after cleansing and my skin is looking and feeling incredible. I usually don’t find oils quench my skin like a moisturiser would, but this ticks all the boxes.
The Do It All Moisturiser
Up there with the Oskia Renaissance Cleanser is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. I don’t think there’s been a day in the last three or four years that I haven’t used this, it’s my ultimate everyday staple.
I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been on roaccutane, but my skin often feels parched – Ultra Facial Cream is the only moisturiser I’ve found that actually nourishes my skin and keeps it feeling hydrated all day. Plus it has a bit of a priming effect so my makeup applies like a dream too.
A Little Somethin’ Extra
Origins is one of those brands that just speaks to me; I know with absolute certainty that I will adore everything I try! Their masks are some of my favourites, and the Drink Up Intensive should be in everyone’s pamper routine!
A quick application of this on a Sunday night and I’m good to go for the week ahead, it really does make a big difference to my skin overall. My entire complexion just glows, and it feels so hydrated and plumped too. I slap a thick ol’ layer on at bedtime and wake up to dreamy skin come morning!
There’s something to be said for having a strict and stripped back routine – my skin is definitely feeling a lot less confused without all the lotions and potions I used to apply.
