My Weekend Wind Down Rituals – AD.

Anyone who has followed me for a while will know I’m big on my weekend self-care routine. If it were up to me, we would have three days off – one day for socialising, one day for chores and another day for doing absolutely nothing! As it happens, we have just two days to work with so I usually try to balance a bit of housework with a lot of pampering.

I usually set aside Sundays for self-care, it feels like a day for slow activities. A cup of tea sitting on the coffee table, Friends playing in the background, candles burning… no doubt rain hitting the window too. I’ve become a bit of an expert at creating a spa-like experience at home, it feels like the perfect way to set myself up for the week ahead!

I slip on my comfiest pair of PJs (this pretty pink set are super soft and perfect for lounging in) and run a bath with a liberal helping of this Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak. There’s something so relaxing about the incredible combination of juniper, clove, alpine lavender and sea salt – the calming concoction always helps me let go of a busy week.

For a little somethin’ somethin’ extra, I sprinkle in a handful of the BetterYou Magnesium Sleep Bath Flakes. I’m a huge fan of adding magnesium in to my routine, it’s just the thing for aches and pains, as well as ensuring you get a snoozy slumber on a Sunday night!

My skincare routine is usually pretty simple, I rarely wear makeup on the weekends so I use a buttery cleanser like the Elemis Pro Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm. This feels like heaven to apply, the ultra slick balm melts in to skin and dissolves impurities all while leaving my skin feeling nourished and supple.
I follow it up with the Elemis Pro Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks, which I’m rarely without as I really rely on their depuffing properties when my peepers looking a little tired. They do a world of good after a late night, and feel lovely to pop on while I soak in the bath.

Post-bath, my routine really only consists of two products – the first being the brilliant Elemis Superfood Kefir-Tea Mist, a lightweight but super hydrating face spritz that really works to quench dehydrated complexions. While my skin is still damp, I slick on the much-loved Elemis Superfood CICA Calm Hydration Juice. An ultra soothing cocktail of delicious ingredients that work to cool and hydrate complexions in need!

I pop both these products on immediately after a face steam. I’ve said before how much I adore using a facial steamer once a week, it really does elevate the pampering experience and I love how rosy and glowing my skin looks after use.

Finally, it’s time to switch off for a little while. Sunday is, of course, fresh bedding day so I usually have a lie down in the afternoon with a book or a playlist – a little bit of zen before a busy, busy week. I’m a huge fan of the humble lie down! I pop on my much loved diffuser with my favourite essential oil and take an hour or two to myself. I read, nap, stare in to space, sing along to a playlist or phone my friends for a catch up. Sundays are meant to be slow days with zero guilt, so I always manage to make the most of it.

Here’s to setting aside time for self-care! What are your weekend rituals for winding down?
