A new leaf, a new month…
I debated whether or not I should do a monthly goals post this month – after all, I don’t have a lot going on right now! – but I’ve been doing these updates every month for something like the last three years so it would feel weird to skip it.
And anyway, I actually do have a fair bit to share with you right now! I’ve been busy, Jord and I have got a good thing going on and I wanted to share these silly pictures we took a couple of weeks ago before a Zoom chat with our friends (after a couple of Aperol Spritz!).
01. I’m back on your screens! Scotland’s Home Of The Year, the TV show I’m a part of, aired again this week. It’s the second series – you may remember me taking a couple of months off to go out and film it last summer. Honestly this show is such a massive part of my life, we put our everything in to filming it so to see it come together is just wonderful. The reaction we had this week for the first episode has blown me away, so thank you to everyone who watched, shared or let me know they enjoyed it. It’s a fabulous series, the homes are INCREDIBLE and the views and scenery are also wildly impressive.
You can watch the first episode on iPlayer here if you’re in the UK!
02. Coming out of this a better person. We’ve been in lockdown a while now and in some ways, I want to continue on with this slower way of life. I’ve found myself feeling a lot more relaxed, grateful and, in a lot of ways, more content too. It’s a strange time but I’ve definitely seen a change in myself, it seems a less busy life suits me! I want to do a full blog post on this because I’d love to hear your thoughts too, but I thought I’d make it my goal for May to see what I want to take with me from this “new normal” in to a new life when things resume. I’m seeing lockdown as a sort of transitional period… I don’t think I want my old life to fully go back to the way it was. Something to think about for sure!
03. Our kitchen plans. Before lockdown came in to action, we were starting to plan the kitchen in the new flat, so I’m hoping to get than finalised this month. I thought I had a general idea of what I want, but it seems I’ve changed my mind since then! Jord is on board for a planning sesh so I think we’re gonna sit down, talk it out and get the kitchen renovation underway! I see IKEA is still delivering so I could at least order that and finalise everything later.
I think we’ll go with and IKEA kitchen again because we haven’t had any issues with our current one, but we’ll get different cabinet fronts. Now to consult my Pinterest board…
04. More moments. As I said, I’ve been loving this slower way of life. If you watch my vlogs, you’ll know Jord and I have been taking the time to make these little moments – brunch together every day after our walk, an evening beer in our “beer garden” when the sun is out, cosy movie nights when it’s rainy. It’s been so fun to make our usual routine a little bit more special, and it’s definitely something we’re going to try to keep at!
Right now we’re listening to our morning playlist while having a coffee before our morning walk, and it just feels like such a blissful start to the day and something we never had time for before.
So that’s May in a nutshell! Honestly, who knows what will come this month but I think we have to stay positive and look after each other. How are you guys feeling?
