Time for a reshuffle…
New season, new makeup routine, am I riiiiight? I dedicated an entire afternoon to restocking my makeup table, carefully selecting only berry-toned blushers and gold-flecked highlighters to replace the more lightweight and muted picks I was loving in summer.
The result is pretty clichéd to be honest, this edit is exactly what you’d expect from an autumn makeup roundup! I’m actually loving having more of a look these days, I’m usually so low-maintenance with my makeup, but where’s the fun in that?
Anyway, here’s a few bits I’m loving at the moment…
BareMinerals Good Hydrations Silky Primer
I seem to have the most dehydrated skin going, so I’m always, always looking for something (anything!) to nourish my complexion – especially before I apply makeup, because my skin has a tendency to slurp up all the hydration from my base and leave me looking like chalk. Sexy.
I found this super hydrating skin prep from BareMinerals and it’s completely saved me – it goes on perfectly, sinking in to skin and giving it a lovely supple feeling.
It makes all the difference prepping my skin with this, I find my base sits better and lasts longer throughout the day. It’s just the product I’ve been looking for!
NARS Eyeshadow Quad in Singapore
This palette doesn’t even need an introduction, it speaks for itself. Four of the most mesmerising shadow shades I’ve ever seen, but then I wouldn’t expect anything less from NARS!
I’ve gotten a little lazy with my makeup routine lately, but I think summer is a time for laidback beauty, whereas we tend to amp it up come party season.
I wore a mix of these shades on my lids this week (as you can see in the above snap) and I was instantly hooked. I put the shimmery warm taupe on my lids, and then followed with the champagne shimmer on the inner corners and added a touch of the warm berry shade to my lower lash line. Such a perfect look that even I can do!
NARS Climax Mascara
I had to have words with myself as this post was almost a tribute to NARS, but I managed to reign it in a little.
If there’s one product I need to give a shout out to at the moment, it’s the incredible NARS Climax Mascara. I don’t suit a lot of eye makeup, but one thing I love is big lashes – not spidery, just long, dark, separated lashes. I have long lashes but they’re super straight, so I need something that holds the curl (I use lash curlers), but doesn’t smudge since my lashes hit off my brow bone.
It’s a long list really, a lot of boxes to tick there – BUT, Climax hits the spot (lol).
I love that this can be tailored to the occasion; you want a quick hit of curl and volume? Sweep it on to make a difference. Going out out and want to make an impression? Spend a little extra time getting the brush right in there, adding length, volume and blacker than black colour to every single lash. It’s one of the best mascaras I’ve ever tried – bravo, NARS!
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Cheek To Chic Blush
There’s not a lot I love more than a good dusky pink blusher, and CT has got us all covered with the long-awaited Pillow Talk cheek colour!
Admittedly, I’m teasing you a little since this is apparently sold out EVERYWHERE, but I had to share it with you anyway – put it on your Christmas wishlists, gals.
I can tell this is going to get a lot of love from me this season, I find this sort of shimmery rosy colour is the most perfect ‘fresh from a winters walk’ flush for me. The circle of champagne shimmer does wonders for the complexion too, it has gold flecks throughout for added luminosity. So dreamy!
Bobbi Brown Luxe Liquid Lip High Shine in Camisole
A new Bobbi B release is always worth celebrating, especially when they’re this pretty! I received a little selection of their new lip launches to try, and the shade Camisole spoke to me immediately.
I struggle with knowing what shades of lipstick suit me, I always think my complexion is made for brighter tones but, well, I’m too low maintenance so…
Luckily for me and my lazy ass, these have the best formula. Lightweight and effortless to apply, and they last well too – none of that annoying drying sensation once they’re on. It’s the easiest way to embrace this perfect pop of peachy colour without feeling like you’re a slave to reapplication all day.
I hope this has inspired you to give your makeup a little reshuffle! Surely I’m not alone in wanting to make a bit more of an effort with my routine now that autumn is here?!
