I’m sure I’m not the only one who is feeling the winter blues right about now! I’m pasty, parched and patiently waiting for spring.
I’ve been on a bit of a glow-up mission these past few weeks, and so I’m sharing my secrets…
It all starts with skincare…
A good complexion starts with a good skincare routine, and of course I’ve got just the thing for lacklustre skin. I’ve had to overhaul my picks this month because my skin has been so incredibly dull and dehydrated, I guess from the weather combined with central heating taking its toll.
My go-to at the moment is the new Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, packed with 12.5% vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to smooth and refine the complexion.
I’m a sucker for anything that feels instantly smoothing on the skin, so one application of this lovely little serum had me hooked! It’s so lightweight as you apply, and it slots perfectly in to my routine in between cleanser and moisturiser.
Come morning, my skin is softer and clearer and I’m noticing over time my skin has a little bit of ‘bounce’! Perfect for perking up my complexion throughout winter and in to the warmer (ahem, better) months…
Fake a little radiance
I haven’t had to faux a glow in a while, but I reached desperate measures this month and updated my bronzing routine for the first time in forever!
I’ve been eyeing up the Benefit Hoola Lite for some time now, and after a few weeks of constant use I can confirm it is exactly what I’ve been missing!
It’s the perfect light bronze for adding a touch of radiance to winter skin – I just dust on a little where the light hits my face and I look approximately a million times better.
Get your eight hours!
If there’s one thing I take from winters in the UK, it’s that a good nights sleep is essential! I like the ‘early to bed, early to rise’ mantra, it keeps me feeling fresh and I always value an extra 30 mins in the morning too.
Get in to a routine with your sleep; start winding down early with a candle and a peppermint tea, switch out your lamp a little earlier and put your phone away. I also really love spritzing my pillow with the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. It’s a god-send for when I’m feeling overworked and exhausted! You won’t believe what a difference a few extra hours will make to your overall complexion – and your mood!
Don’t forget your bodycare routines
You may remember that one of my beauty resolutions for the year ahead was to be a bit better with bodycare, and I’m a month in at this point and I have to say, it’s worth the extra effort!
I’ve been exfoliating daily and following it up with the incredible Kiehl’s Nourishing Dry Body Oil. The delicious scent and super light texture make this a winner in my eyes, and I’m so impressed at how much better I feel after spending a few extra minutes a day to take care of my previously-reptilian limbs! No more scaly legs for this gal.
Work on yourself too
Okay, so one last thing. Since January was the longest, coldest month in existence, I’ve taken a bit of a beating. I didn’t quite stick to all my monthly goals (quelle surprise) and I’ve fallen behind in other areas too, but I’ve been feeling good otherwise!
I’ve been making an effort to see my friends more, to eat better and to look after my mental health too, and I feel like I’ve been feeling lighter and more refreshed for it!
