Yep, autumn has very much arrived in Glasgow and it. is. chilly. Still, I can’t complain because autumn dressing is wonderful; cosy and simple and romantic and charming all at once.
My wardrobe needed to be replenished to celebrate the changing of the seasons, so I thought I’d introduce a few ways I’ve updated my outfits for the coming, cooler months.
Edgy Florals
Wave goodbye to those pastel-soaked spring colours and introduce autumn-inspired florals to your wardrobe! I love the golden tones in this beaut tiered New look skirt, it’s a simple piece that I’ve been wearing daily since I got it (genuinely, I’ve taken it off to sleep and that’s about it).
Paired with a simple black top, or an oh so cosy frilled jumper – it’s the easiest way to channel some colour in the most understated way.
Warm Tones
Ditch the silver accessories and opt for warmer pieces for the colder months – I love embracing gold jewellery and metal accents all year round, but I also tend to fall for bronze and rose gold details at this time of year.
My Sunday Somewhere Junita sunglasses c/o Farfetch are my ultimate accessory at the moment, the round shape is an update on the slightly oval style I usually opt for, and the gold detailing makes them the perfect addition to any outfir!
A pair of leopard print shoes is another way to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your ensemble, and these ASOS loafers are everything. A simple way to add personality to an all-black getup.
Cosy Essentials
Bobble hats, soft scarves and knitwear are your BFFs, so stock up on chunky knits while you can. I’m all about mustard everything at the moment, so this Topshop woolen hat was one ‘ell of a find.
I also love berets for keeping windswept locks under wraps too, and a Lenny K-style scarf is always a must throughout autumn and winter!
Statement Pieces
What’s a cute outfit without the finishing statement piece? I went a little wild with my latest wardrobe addition, this mesmerising small Chloe Faye c/o of Farfetch, in a striking off-white colour. I know, a daring pick, but the gold hardware and neutral hues just spoke to me… I had to have it!
I’m also loving these very eye-catching (heh) Topshop earrings, the sparkly eye design is very me and I’ve been getting all the head-turns whenever I wear them – good or bad, who knows.
Autumn dressing is always a bit special, so stock up on those cosy knits and embrace the colder months.
