Decorating With Fresh Blooms.

My mood is heavily dependant on the weather, so when the sun ain’t shining, things get a little gloomy around here. There’s one way I can usually be picked up though, and that’s with a few bouquets of fresh flowers. Seriously, who doesn’t instantly feel a little brighter when they see colourful blooms?!

We have a couple of florists on our road, so I tend to check in every few days to see what they have.
I usually have a big bundle of eucalyptus around, just because I think it looks so rustic and lovely – the mellow green tones really give every room such a fresh feel!
I have a lovely gold-rimmed vase from H&M that holds the stems beautifully.

I usually choose whatever pink or peach coloured flowers are going – obviously my first choice would be peonies, if they’re in season. I actually found a really nice bouquet of white peonies from my local florist, which is very rare!
I tend to check on the Bloom and Wild App to see what they’ve got new in, around this time their peony bouquets are arriving and they’re always the best! I got a couple of the Eloise bouquets last year and they were perfect.

This time of year is always the best time for blooms in general, so I recommend hitting up your local florist and seeing what’s available. I tend to just have simple bouquets of one type of flower, with a bit of greenery – so pink peonies with eucalyptus, or white roses with leatherleaf.
I’m also partial to a hydrangea stem – they just so beautiful, but hard to find at my local florists. This beaut sitting on my bedside table didn’t last long, but the time we spent together was very sweet.

Are you a fan of fresh flowers?

  • Oh gosh that last bouquet is to die for really!!! My mood is also very depending on the weather and here in Paris it’s also pretty much a daily struggle to stay upbeat when it’s 6° in May! But i agree 100%, fresh pretty blooms always pick me up quite nicely! 😉

  • One of my new years ‘intentions’ was to buy myself fresh flowers regularly, there’s nothing like them to lift your mood. My local florist leaves a lot to be desired in all honesty, but I’ve been enjoying tulips, roses or lilies lately. I think I may have to head into the city on a mission to score some Peonies soon though – my favourite flower.

So beautiful! I need to be better at buying fresh flowers, because whenever I do, they just seem to bring me so much joy and perk up the flat a bit. Thanks for the reminder! x

I love peonies. I picked up 2 bunches of bright pink ones in Tesco yesterday for £6 each as there isn’t a florist near me.

  • I have such an obsession with buying fresh flowers but also house plants in general. It was you that got me into mother of tongue in particular and my Mum always had spider plants growing around the house when I was young, so I have added these around my own home now as well. I couldn’t imagine a house without some kind of nature thrown in.

Also, part of the reason I love Estee so much!

Fresh flowers are always a good option to bright up your home! However, my cat, Puppy, is very against them for some reason so I can’t have any around 🙁

  • I’m the same. My mood is also dependant on the weather.

Fresh flowers in my home is my fave treat. Would rather buy flowers rather than a lunch out on a restaurant any day. 😉

I’ve just bought my first house with my boyfriend (YAY!) and have been so keen to fill it with flowers! I went outside yesterday and picked my very own bunch (best.feeling.ever) but will definitely be dropping into my local florists too. Beautiful post, as always, Kate. X

  • A lovely blog post! My mum is a florist, so it’s always a treat to see floral blog posts… xx

  • Fresh flowers make my soul so happy, I smile every time I look at them! Hydrangeas were my wedding flower but of course if I had got married earlier in the summer it would have been peonies!! x
