Restyling A Room Without Spending A Penny.

Working from home and being a very fickle Sagittarius means that I’m forever changing around my home… but you’ve probably already noticed that!

Honestly, this is something I’ve done all my life! Just changing my room around to turn over a new leaf. I find rearranging a space gives me such a new lease of life, and it’s something I recommend to anyone who likes to feel content in their own home. Live that hygge life!

Having a nice home can get expensive, I try to be quite frugal when it comes to my interiors – always shopping around, buying “inspired” pieces and choosing faux furs and finishes.
I’ve picked up a few tips when it comes to restyling your space when you’re itching for a change, so here’s a little rundown…

01. Find new homes for old pieces. Whenever I buy a new decorative object or plant or piece of furniture for my home, I buy it because I like it – never really because “oh that might go in the bathroom”. So then when I get it home, sometimes it takes me a while to find a place for it!
When I feel super bored of my living room or bedroom, I’ll have a little rearrange – put that stack of magazines in the bedroom, that lamp in the hallway, the chair in living room. Add a new cushion on it. Basically restyle your house with what you already have!

02. Upcycle. I’m all about that upcycle life! I have a whole cupboard of spray paint, chalk paint, gold leaf rub, fabric, DIY materials and crafts.
You can update just about any piece of furniture with chalk paint – it’s amazing stuff, and Pinterest has a million and one ways to use it.
Spray is also a great idea – do something similar to my DIY catci pots and you’re basically set.

03. Find inspiration. I really recommend spending time on Pinterest to feel inspired, it’s packed full of ideas.
Save any future projects to a board, and use keywords to really narrow down what you’re searching for too. It’s always my go-to place when I need inspiration on styling a new piece of furniture – someone else will have pinned their styled piece and you can get some great ideas!

04. Swaps! I really wish I had more interiors-obsessed friends around here because I’m always getting rid of my furniture!
Swapping decorative bits and old furniture is such a great way to feel like you’ve been shopping, but without spending the monies. Always a win.
Sometimes you see pictures on Pinterest and you just feel so inspired that you need ten copies of Vogue magazine or a huge plant pot/bar cart/rattan chair!
Time to work with your pals so you can all have killer homes!

I really do think rearranging and upcycling and trying new ideas really works to make your home feel fresh and new and lovely – which is exactly what you need at this time of year!

Will you be trying some of these?
