The winter skin saviours…
Now, I don’t know about anyone else but my skin is currently going haywire. For reference, I’ve always had quite a normal/combination skin type, leaning towards dehydrated in winter. Recently, however, it’s been PARCHED. Drier than a desert. Incapable of being quenched. I’ve never had to deal with dry skin before and let me tell you, it’s no walk in the park.
The areas around my nose became chapped and red, and under my eyes was also looking a little uh, crusty. Even my chin, which is usually home to hormonal acne, has seen dry patches – I just don’t think I’m built for winter. My body has gone in to shock. All my problems would be solved by sunshine.
The first thing I did when my skin had this little flare up, was pick up some . I’ve had to overhaul my routines a little because I’ve never had to work with a chapped complexion, but something made me want to purchase this instantly and I haven’t looked back! My sore, red nose cleared up within a week.
I apply it as a treatment, usually after my moisturiser in the evening, to anywhere that needs it. Sometimes I’ll have it on hand through the day for top-ups if I’m just at my desk. A life-saver, I’m telling you.
The other product I bought to soothe my skin is the , while I had almost every other product here in my stash already, I had to upgrade my routine a little to help soothe the scales. Almost overnight my skin felt so dry it was itchy, and the only thing I could think to help was Aveeno. I made the right choice, this is a great body lotion and it worked in no time to help quench my limbs!
A few other staples that have held my hand during this recent bout of parched, problematic skin…
*; I’m a biiiig believer in facial spritzes, I like to sandwich them in-between my serums and moisturisers to lock in hydration. I’m also a biiiig fan of Beauty Pie so when this mist arrived, I knew I’d love it. A few spritzes after cleansing to help my serum get to work always makes a huge difference!
; The wonderworker! Anyone who hasn’t tried this is missing out. A lovely, rich lip balm for soothing chapped lips while you snooze. This feels luxurious and really works miracles on super dry lips – I swear by it.
; A recent addition to my routine, I had a sample size of this and immediately loved it. It really quenched my dehydrated complexion and even with just a light moisturiser, my skin felt lovely and soft. I purchased a full size bottle of it and haven’t looked back! I try to use it sparingly because it’s not cheap, and thankfully a little goes a long way!
; Look back through the archives of this blog and it’s unlikely you’ll find a skincare post without a nod to this mask. As you can see, my tube is well loved – it really is one of the best hydrating masks I’ve tried. It’s a little lighter than Origins Drink Up, and with a more subtle scent, but has a similar result – radiant, supple skin. Heaven.
*; If you buy one thing from my winter skin staples, let it be this. I slap on a good helping after every shower because it works wonders for making skin feel heavenly! It works a treat on super dry areas (for me that’s my shins, knees and tops of my arms) and feels incredibly luxurious to apply. Plus, it sinks in quickly so it’s perfect for chilly evenings when you want to get dressed asap.
