Meet my everyday favourites…
It doesn’t matter if you’re a summer-only person who swears by linen dresses, basket bags and sandals… there’s just something about autumn dressing, isn’t there? It’s that real clear change of season which calls for a wardrobe sort-through, bringing last years favourites out of storage and investing in a few on-trend pieces too.
I have a few wardrobe staples that make up the majority of my outfits at this time of year; from berets to boots and everything in-between! My trusty all-weather pieces that I come back to time and time again…
The Straight Leg Jeans
I’ve been a skinny jean gal since the early 00’s, so to suddenly change up my style after half my life was quite a big move for me! I love straight jeans because they seem a bit more relaxed, and not to mention flattering, than their skinny or mom jean counterparts.
I had a few issues finding the right pair because I have bigger thighs and a smaller waist, so it can be tricky to get a pair that fit both. Eventually I tried the Topshop Straight Jeans and the stars aligned! I prefer the raw hem style for a bit of extra detail.
The Wearable Ankle Boots
I have to admit, I’m all about a low heel for day to day wear. I love to walk everywhere so I need a reliable shoe that will also withstand the Scottish weather. I usually throw on my Dr Martens because they’re the ultimate all-weather shoe, but I also love this faux croc tan pair as they seem to go with EVERYTHING. They were a sale find and I was very pleased with myself when I came across them.
The Knitted Midi
I’ve discovered knitted dresses recently and wow, what have I been doing all this time?! They’re comfy, flattering and so easy to style. My first find was this beautiful glittery Mango dress – I urge you all to add it to your wardrobe, it’s something that you’ll have for years.
The Trusty Trench
I’ll be honest, I wear my trench all year round! It’s one of my most loved items ever, it goes with everything and is just the right length for midi dresses and skirts, as well as jeans and trousers. The check pattern adds a little somethin’ somethin’ to an outfit too, I feel.
My one is from Topshop (similar here), but I’ve found a few similar options and added them below.
My Go-To Headgear
Hats, headbands and berets are your cosy companions during this time of year! They’re also perfect for hiding third-day hair when the dry shampoo just ain’t cutting it.
I wear my Lack Of Colour Fedora constantly, but I think it adds an extra cosiness to an outfit come autumn. Of course, I have an entire collection of berets and I’m rarely without one from September through April, and now I can added padded headbands to my list too! Ahh I might never need to wash my hair again at this rate…
The Staple Knit
My uniform throughout the colder months is always a pair of jeans and a white knitted jumper – preferably from Sezane! I love how soft and beautifully made they are, they really are worth the splurge.
My favourite is definitely the Paulin (in every colour please!) but I do love the Becky too.
The Go-To Evening Outfit
The festive season definitely brings about a few extra social occasions! Even though I’m quite the homebody (especially in winter!), I do love having an excuse to get dressed up. My favourite evening ensemble right now is this Monki glittery jumpsuit, it’s so comfy and so easy to style for various occasions. I’ve also got my eye on this delicious number, it’s just so chic!
Oh how I love autumn dressing! I’m hoping I can snap up a few more of the below come Black Friday – is anyone else planning on adding a few of these to their basket?!
