A seasonal home refresh!
Spring has sprung and with it comes a longing to refresh my home, something I do regularly because it gives me a chance to declutter, switch things up and generally breathe a bit of life in to the rooms.
As always, I’ve used natural textures, spring flowers and subtle pops of colour for a bit of a seasonal revival, and I absolutely love what a few new home bits has done for the place!
I said on Instagram that I had to move some furniture to make way for open shelving in our living room, and the back wall was looking a bit bare without the usual bookshelf that has been there for years. I searched high and low for a more natural table with an authentic hand-made feel and I could only find this Lene Bjerre bamboo table, which was meant to be temporary to serve as our vinyl storage but I actually think it’s here to stay.
I’ve been slowly adding new in pieces from H&M in to my basket for months now, and my latest clear-out called for a bit of a home haul. It’s been ages since I bought anything new for the flat so I’ve purchased a few different accessories to freshen up the space.
The finer details…
One of my first finds was the rattan tray, which is the perfect addition for styling the top of the new cabinet – I love trays because they give you a space in which to work in, so everything looks a bit more put together. I wasn’t entirely sure how to make the top of the cabinet look right, but I added a few books and a vase full of flowers and it soon came together. It can take a while to style something like this but I think if you don’t overthink it, it’s an easy feat.
These super cute little wooden bowls also caught my eye, I’m loving the mix of wood at the moment – something I never really had much time for before! These are perfect around the home as little storage trays for jewellery or snacks when I’m hosting.
I also found a little shell dish that is oh so cute and ideal for holding matchsticks and other loose ends.
Despite my rattan obsession at the moment, I’m still a sucker for a bit of brass! I’ve been after these metal candlestick holders for so long, they seem like the perfect way to add height when styling… and they serve a purpose which is always good!
A little revival…
I added some texture in the form of soft furnishings and I have to say, what a difference a couple of inexpensive cushions made! I first got these tasseled white cushions which add a bit of an airy feel to the room, and then I found these mint velvet cushions, although I’m thinking of adding these sage washed linen picks in to the mix.
Finally, a few picture frames and some big beautiful blooms just set the tone off perfectly! I’m living for brighter mornings and I love opening up the windows and blasting music over my trusty Marshall speaker, the most aesthetically-pleasing bit of tech ever!
How will you be switching up your homewares for Spring?
