My favourite festive fizz…
What’s a celebration without some bubbles?! Prosecco is always the go-to drink for me and my friends, it’s hella cheaper than champagne and always makes everyone giggly after a couple of glasses. I always say it gets you the best kind of tipsy but gives you the worst hangover (but somehow I never care about latter until the next day…)
For occasions like New Year, I find myself wanting something a little sweeter – even just to switch up the flavour… so it’s lucky that prosecco is the easiest base for any cocktail!
For this lovely little number, I always look to my favourite Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb & Ginger Liqueur; the ginger is subtle but gives it a lovely kick, with the rhubarb taking centre stage.
This really is the easiest creation, so I jazzed it up with a super sparkly glitter rim. I use this stuff usually, but for this I used this prosecco glitter which can also be added to the drink for a bit extra shimmer.
Ingredients
25ml rhubarb liqueur or syrup
prosecco
fresh rosemary
edible glitter
honey
To start, take two fancy glasses (I prefer champagne saucers) and lay out two side plates. Put a coin-sized blob of honey on one plate and some edible glitter on another, then quickly run the rim of the glass through the honey and then the glitter to make a glitzy rim!
Next, add a shot of the rhubarb liqueur or syrup to the glass and top up with prosecco. To finish, add a sprig of rosemary to garnish – you get a little hint of it every time you take a drink and it is delish!
Isn’t that the easiest cocktail recipe you’ve ever come across?! The glitter rim takes them to the next level, a little extra magic to impress your gal pals.
Let me know if you’ll be making these tonight, they really are the most dreamy drinks. Have a safe and fun New Year whatever your plans, here’s to starting 2019 in style!
