Despite seeing a lot of beauty launches come my way, I’m pretty set when it comes to my go-to foundations; a stash of no-fail formulas that keep me feeling pretty content with my (pretty disruptive!) complexion.
I think everyone probably has a foundation that they trust and repurchase even before it runs out – it’s just one of those products that you don’t mess round with!
I actually have four favourites, and I keep them on rotation just because I’m not quite ready to commit to just one at the moment!
The one with the misleading title…
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is neither sheer nor overly glowy, it’s definitely more medium plus coverage and it has a very natural glow once applied. I love it as it still looks like skin once on, but the wear is incredible – hours upon hours without the need for touchups, if at all.
This is great for days when you need a little extra coverage, or for evenings out and events. It’s ultra reliable and leaves skin looking better than ever!
Best for: those who like good coverage and more of a natural/dewy finish that lasts well.
The one that I’ll never be without…
If I had to pick favourites, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation would probably be top of the list. The fluid foundation applies seamlessly for a naturally perfected complexion in one effortless application!
I like how even this leaves my skin, it really works to camouflage imperfections like redness and acne scarring, and you can layer it up depending on the kind of coverage you’re after too. Plus, you gotta hand it to Bobbi, their shade range is impressive!
Best for: anyone! This adapts well to all skin types and concerns, it’s been a long time love of mine through various skin issues.
The one for bad skin days…
…and good skin days, has to be Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. I love the versatility of this, it seems to work with your skin to create the best base yet.
I wasn’t a fan of this at first, but I think the key is to moisturise well and go in with less product first – then build up if needed. You always seem to need less than you think!
Again, it offers the same sort of coverage as the others here – medium plus, with a velvet finish that gets a little more radiant as the day wears on.
It’s super perfecting, capable of smoothing over even my worst breakouts and calming redness in one quick sweep. Me love.
Best for: anyone who feels like they need a little more from their base; acne-sufferers, and those with uneven tone and redness will see results with this ‘un.
The one that’s fast become a staple…
I’ve always been a fan of Clinique foundations, and Even Better was probably my top pick of the lot – so the introducing of the Clinique Even Better Glow foundation was met by much enthusiasm from me!
Thankfully, it didn’t disappoint. It offers great coverage with a touch of radiance that gives such a soft-focus glow to the skin, thanks to the light-reflecting particles within.
A great no-fuss everyday base that applies effortless and perks up the skin in an instant.
Best for: anyone who likes a natural, buildable base.
I don’t see myself straying from this winning lineup for some time… have you tried any of these? What’s your go-to base?
