Beauty Resolutions For The Year Ahead.

My beauty resolutions…

I have to say, I’m all for New Year’s resolutions! Anything that gives me a bit of a kick up the butt is all good in my book, especially when it comes to my beauty routines – which I’ve definitely been slacking on lately.

December really did a number on my skin – the prosecco and chocolate diet really isn’t great for your complexion, who knew?! So now I’m making up for it with a list of must do’s for the year ahead. I hope this inspires you to jumpstart your own beauty regimes…

Mask every week

I actually really love masking, but I could be better at it. I’m a bit slap dash, applying one mask, removing it and slathering on a night cream and calling it a day (or… night).
I’d love to dedicate an evening a week to applying a couple of my favourite masks (depending on how my complexion is that week), then following it up with a few treatments and a night cream – basically just amping up my pamper routine so my skin gets a little love. Sounds easy, right?!

I’m excited to give my beauty stash a reorganise, January just makes me want to have one big declutter! I really need to streamline my products in to one effective routine, so I can really nail my resolutions this year…

Lotion, lotion, lotion

I’m pretty sure this is my resolution every single year, but my reptilian skin remains un-moisturised. I’ve actually recently discovered a bit of a winner in the Glossier Body Cream so this will definitely help me in my quest to super soft pins.
My issue with applying body cream is that it’s usually super sticky and I just wanna put my PJs on straight away and ugh, it all seems like one big hassle.
Luckily the Glossier wonder sinks in instantly, so I’m well on my way to achieving this lil goal.

Switch it up on the regular

What can I say, I’m a creature of habit! I seem to use the same lineup of beauty products daily, more so when it comes to makeup. I’m usually in a bit of a hurry when I do my daily look, so I think this will be achieved by organising myself a little better (… also known as, spending less time on my phone).
I’m going to give my makeup table a nice big reshuffle this weekend to get the ball rolling – wish me luck!

Make more appointments!

Last year I made a lot more time for beauty appointments – I got my nails done regularly (at my fave NAF Salon), found my brow girl of dreams and even managed to commit to a hairdresser that has done wonders on my hair (Jack at Mesart Glasgow, if you’re wondering).
It’s really made me feel so much happier with myself, but I often found I could have been better at keeping on top of it all. 2018 is the year I schedule appointments in advance, keep on top of my brows and even make sure I have a pedicure all year round, not just before a holiday!
A little bit extra, but whatever makes you feel your best, am I right?

There’s nothing too crazy here, so hopefully with a bit of dedication I can keep at these! Have you set yourself beauty resolutions for 2018?

  • Love this post – I’m also terrible at applying moisturisers after having a bath as I like to get straight into bed without sticking to the sheets!

    • Same!! The new Kiehl’s Dry Body Oil is an absolute delight though, so I’ve been loving using that as a quick fix x

      • Oh amazing, I’ll have to give that one a try… I love Kiehl’s skincare! X

  • I would love to get back on doing mask twic a week. I have fallen off the wagon since Christmas! ☺️

  • I definitely need to make more appointments and to use more masks – great resolutions!

  • I am getting on board with the weekly masking. I loove masking but I rarely find the time for it!

    • Me too, or I get comfy on the sofa and can’t be bothered!! x

  • Yes at using lotion for my skin, it’s just sooo difficult to remember slathering on. Good luck, Kate!

  • I have a very strict beauty routine. Every other day I apply a mask and every 3 days I use a derma roller. If you can stick to your routine for 2 to 3 weeks it will become a habit, hence would be much easier to stick to it.

  • Definitely yes to making more beauty appointments in 2018, just going more regularly to the hairdresser and starting to have facials! Masking more often is a good idea as well!

  • I’d like to make some beauty resolutions as well this year! Agree with you on making more appointments – it always does make you feel so much better! I actually started getting my hair done by Jack at Mesart (after seeing how dreamy your hair is, I’ll admit!) and my hair has never looked better!

    • He’s the best isn’t he!! Such a cutie too. Glad you’re also a fan x

  • I’ve not had a beauty appointment in forever! I’m especially long overdue for a facial. Not a good thing when it’s combined with a once-in-a-blue-moon face mask! *gulp*

    • Oh god, facials! I’ve been for like, two in my entire life. Time to get booking I think!! x

  • Ooh I love beauty resolutions! My beauty resolutions for the year include not touching my face and making masking multiple times in a week a thing! xx

  • I love thinking about resolutions in categories! These beauty resolutions sound amazing!

  • Yes I’m also so lazy when it comes to doing body lotion, skincare is definitely something I want to invest in more this year. I also feel like my life is somewhat together with a fresh mani and waxed brows so that’s a bonus haha!

  • masking every week sounds so good. i might try that for myself.

  • Yes mine are to remove my makeup every night without fail. Drink more water to help my skin and moisturise every night. I also want to try different foundations this year, ive stuck with estee lauder for so long but i want to find another stay all day decent foundation.

  • I think I’m going to steal yours and switch it up more often! I’m also planning to take better care of my hair and use less heat on it. It’s already frazzled enough! x

I most look forward to doing a face mask. I try to use a mask at least two times a week to really maintain a good complexion. I love skin care and I’m always wanting to try out new products to see what good it will do for my skin. This year I think I have finally found a few holy grails.

  • really useful post!

This was so helpful, I am going to be adding these to my new years resolutions, thank you! xx maddisonjayne.blog/

  • Love all of these great beauty resolutions! <3 🙂 I was hoping to mask more this year too and to dedicate some time for actual appointments (I'm horrible at cutting my hair regularly)!

  • I absolutely love giving my skin a good pamper with my favourite masks, especially at the end of a week. I defo need to get into a daily body-care routine too and make sure I’m slathering on lotions and oils! Jasmine x http://www.jasminehardingmakeup.com

  • You’ve just totally sold the Glossier moisturiser to me! It is so annoying when you put your pj’s on and they just stick to you ha! What is the scent like? xx

  • These are such great tips and ideas! We love doing face masks as well! We try and do them two times a week!

  • I’m definitely trying to mask more (2 exfoliating and clarifying ones a week are a must!) and also moisturising, I always skip areas or don’t do it at all so getting that Pai lotion on me every night!

  • Lovely goals you have listed! For the lotion thing I totally agree with what you’re saying. I cannot stand being sticky when I put clothes on. A couple of years ago though I found my holy grail body cream, nothing I’ve tried beats it. It’s the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea body cream (not the lotion). I have a post about it on my blog too! x

I too have vowed to take better care of my body and face. Masking more often, using better products, drinking my weight in water and lotioning often. Looking forward to seeing your recommendations in the coming year, Kate!

I absolutely love doing face masks, I really wanna do more this year xx
