While I would never, ever forego double cleansing *gasp*, or even think about skipping out my morning SPF application, there’s a few steps in my beauty routines that I really get lazy about.
We’re talking regular cuticle oil applications (ughhh, so boring but SO necessary) and perhaps leaving a hair mask on for more than 30 seconds. I’m terrible, Muriel.
Anyway, as I get older (actual sob) I’m definitely committing to my beauty routines a whole lot better. Admittedly, I’m motivated by fear a lot of the time but it seems to be working for me.
Here’s a little rundown of the promises I’ve made myself. Future Kate is going to be looking mighty fine…
Daily
For the last few months, I’ve applied body lotion almost every single day – as soon as I’m out of the shower. Maybe this is a no-brainer to some, but I used to be horrendous at moisturising my limbs. At one point I was part reptile.
I’m also making a promise to slather myself in oil more often – hair oil, face oil, cuticle oil, you name it, it’s going on.
What I’m about to say may shock you… I’m terrible at remembering eye cream! I KNOW, I’m freakin’ twenty six and a half. I’m actually a lot better these days, but I still don’t do it daily. That’s something that needs to change pretty sharpish!
Weekly
My skin is forever dehydrated, so I want to make sure I use an overnight moisture mask a few times a week – they make such a difference, but for some reason I rarely remember to fish one out to slap on.
I also think I could look after my hair a whole lot better – purple shampoo, hydrating masks, volumising treatments… all on my list. I think I could definitely wash my hair a lot less if I looked after it better and put a little more effort in to blowdrying it properly!
Other steps like a quick foot cream application wouldn’t go amiss, and then there’s exfoliating my limbs in the shower. Yup, this is why I don’t call myself a beauty blogger.
Monthly
In terms of not-so-regular but still-very-important steps, I’d definitely like to get a facial every now and again. I think I’ve had about three in my entire life, and I think I’d really benefit from a nice hydrating face pamper once a month or so.
My usual routines are a bit slap dash, so having someone dedicated to looking after my skin would be a dream come true for my complexion!
Alongside these, I’m also making a point to make sure my brows and nails are on point too. I always feel incredible when my brows are tinted and waxed to perfection, it just changes my whole face. I must admit though, the actual trek in to the salon and giving up a morning to get them done isn’t ideal, but it’s so worth it.
Do you fall behind with your beauty routines? What steps would you like to be better at?
