It’s been almost half a year since our trip to Positano, and it dawned on me recently that I never shared a single photo with my blog readers! It wouldn’t be fair for me to keep the beauty of the Amalfi coast all to myself, so here’s a little rundown on why you should be hitting up Positano pronto…
The Views
Seriously. The above view is what you’ll be greeted with on a daily basis in Positano! The colourful buildings are built in to the cliffside, dotted like little pastel blooms high in to the steep mountain. We arrived at night and awoke early the next day, running out on to the balcony to check if the view was as magical as the pictures make it seem. It was even better.
There is so many opportunities to capture your own perfect Positano picture – go high up in the hills for an impressive look down to the water, stand on the beach and take in the mesmerising views in every direction, or weave up the windy roads that take you up to the hotels and restaurants in the cliffside – everywhere you look is like a postcard!
Carbs carbs carbs
Well, this is a given. When we arrived back from our week-long visit to Positano, I truly couldn’t look at Italian food for over a month… we were spoilt!
There’s not a lot else on the menu in the village restaurants except authentic Italian dishes, but it’s definitely some of the best you’ll come across.
We tried a lot of the eateries in Positano and I’d recommend them all – it was carb heaven!
Vino Locale
Up there with the food was the local wine, which we consumed in large quantities (for research purposes, obviously). One of my favourite days was sitting with Jordan high up in the mountain on the sunniest day, sipping the vino locale and taking in the incredible views.
Make sure to set aside an afternoon for a lazy lunch and lots of local wine! Oh, and a bellini is a must too.
Day Trips
While we found there was a surprisingly good amount to do in Positano, I recommend exploring other parts of the coast too. We hopped on a boat to Capri one day and spent an entire day exploring the island, it was such a beautiful place and we hiked a good chunk of it in an afternoon.
The weather was lovely for early October and the boat over there wasn’t bumpy at all. I was expecting a lot worse!
Wear comfy shoes and make sure your camera is charged…
The Famous Franco’s Bar!
You may recognise the canary yellow door in the above snap from Instagram; it’s the backdrop of Franco’s, an incredible bar joined on to the luxe Le Sirenuse hotel. With such a dreamy setting and views out on to the breathtaking Positano cliffs, this is a must-visit if you’re in town. I still can’t believe such a place exists!
Hotel L’Ancora
If you’re searching for the perfect place to stay when you’re visiting Positano, look no further than Hotel L’Ancora!
This is right next to Le Sirenuse so you get the same impeccable views, but it’s a little kinder on the bank balance!
I loved our stay here, the restaurant is lovely and the location is perfect too. We’d been recommended the hotel by friends and I’m so glad we ended up booking it, it was just what we wanted!
I think the photos probably speak louder than my words in this instance, so trust me on this one – you’re going to want to book a trip asap! Positano is easily one of my favourite holiday destinations, it was peaceful but lively, just the right temperature for a warm October break and everywhere looked like it was straight out of Pinterest.
