February Goals.

Things are looking a little brighter now that February has arrived! As much as I hate wishing my life away, January is a gloomy month and I’m looking forward to lighter mornings and a step closer to Spring…

I saw a tweet recently that said we should think of February as we would a new year, because January was a ‘free month trial’. Sounds a-okay to me, I think I take that approach every month!

01. I’m starting my month in Paris, which is probably about as perfect as it gets. I’m here with Bourjois learning about their new releases, so I should have some lovely content coming your way pretty soon.
Is there anything you’d like to see while I’m here? I feel like I always go to Paris for the shortest, busiest trips, but I’m sure I could put together a little something.

02. My only other trip this month (so far!) is to Edinburgh, a city I rarely venture to. I’ve always found Edinburgh so busy and unbearable, but I’m determined to fall in love with it.
We’ve booked the cutest Airbnb, and I lined up a double treatment at the Lush Spa and a cute little afternoon tea date for two. Anything else we need to try? I’m going to try to fit in as much as possible.

03. My main goal of sorts this month (and hopefully beyond that!) is to get myself in to a routine! Working from home and working for myself means I find it almost impossible to have structure, and I always get thrown off by travelling so I’m determined to actually push myself in to staying motivated.
If anyone has any tips on this, I’d love to hear them!

04. I’m on to the last few jobs in this apartment of ours; I’m on a mission to find cute geo-style tiles for the kitchen floor and I need to properly furnish my office! After that, I guess it’s just small little bits that I will want to do leisurely. Expect some room tours coming your way asap!

What have you got planned for this month?

  • I really wanted to get to Paris this month but I don’t think I can now which is sad! I hope you have a lovely time and enjoy Edinburgh! It sounds like you have an amazing time planned.

  • Enjoy Edingburgh, I am looking forward to hear more about this city. I was planning to travel to Edinburgh too, but it has to wait for a while now.

Sounds like February will be a good month for you! I really want to book little trips away for me and my boyfriend too, and Edinburgh is definitely on my list ( maybe when it gets a little warmer!) Are you planning on doing any weekly blogs this month? Enjoy Paris! X

  • I’m excited to see more room tours! My plans for this month are to get out of my house more and do things around Glasgow. I’ve lived here for 5 years but haven’t done half the things I said I would!

  • The botanic gardens are lovely and quiet at the moment, if it’s not raining head for a wander there! Just avoid Princes Street as much as possible, it’s the woooooorst.

So jealous about your trip to Edinburgh, it’s my absolute favourite place! I highly recommend a trip to Hula Cafe for soup and cheese on toast (it’s insanely good!). Walking up Arthur’s Seat is great if the weather is good, Calton Hill is a good alternative if not. I also highly recommend getting the train out to North Berwick, the beach is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen!

  • I love the idea of January being a trial month! I live in Edinburgh and find it’s rare I ever make it over to Glasgow! I definitely need to make more of being so close and get over there. I’ve shared loads of advice on hidden local spots to check out in Edinburgh if you’re after some inspiration!

Love that view of January you shared! One of my husband and I’s goals this year was to be on our phones less, which meant less social media. I struggle with routine a lot, but having an almost 2 year old and being almost 30 i feel like it was time. So instead of starting my day by looking at my phone, I start my day with coffee, a bit of gratefulness journaling (10 things I am thankful for) and face masking. I did this every day for a week, then started realizing getting into a routine for the rest of my day was a lot easier. I’m pretty sure my personality doesn’t allow me to be a routine oriented person so it takes me a while and i have to take one day at a time.
Been loving your blog and photos and vlog! My 6 month temporary job just ended so during nap time i watch your vlogs and I love your fashion and interior design style! if only my husband tolerated pink as well as your fiancΓ© does πŸ˜‰ Have a great day!!

Both of those trips sound dreamy! Can’t wait to see the finishing touches to your apartment. x

  • This month’s goal is to feel more confident. I’ve been starting my driving lessons and feeling so nervous and anxious about it that I nearly felt like quitting. But I’m hoping to gain more confidence and not give up! Have a lovely time in Paris, I really want to visit Paris soon! πŸ™‚

  • So excited for your room tour and your travels πŸ™‚ Hahaha that view of January as a trial month is definitely something I haven’t heard before, but I like the idea! <3 February is definitely going to go by in a blur since there are only 28 days, but definitely going to try to make every one of them count! Enjoy Paris!

  • I really like the idea of making new goals every month. My goal for this month is to walk to work on every nice day. As long as it’s not raining, snowing a lot or storming, I’m walking! So far, I love it and I can’t wait to continue. Love your goals too!

  • olivia

I’m definitely going to steal your idea of making goals every month! Such a lovely idea. There’s always room for a fresh start! I’ve just purchased a new camera so my goal for this month is to explore a bit more and take more photos!

Love your blog, keep up the fab writing!

  • I should really start setting myself monthly goals. My first goal would be, stop spending your money on makeup, at least until March.

Paris sounds like an amazing way to start the month πŸ™‚ Love all your posts Kate!

Your blog is just so beautiful!

  • Your Goal Number 3 is essentially my life in a nutshell. It’s such an overwhelming large thing to conquer when working from home — motivation, self, structure — but so necessary. Ten days in, how are you getting on? I hope that your travels haven’t totally derailed this; I know what you mean, travel always throws me off, too.

january is my birth month and i love it. it’s great to have a month to unwind after the christmas madness, to stay home and actually get on with things that need to be done like sorting wardrobes, painting walls, cleaning cupboards, putting up shelves and random DIY – stuff we never seem to have the time to do in the summer when it’s all go out go out go out. not to mention bubble baths, yummy candles and comfort food with a book, netflix or crap tv. sun isn’t everything; there’s time for relaxing at home, too.
