An Updated Bookshelf Tour.
These IKEA shelves have almost become part of who I am, it seems like they complete our room and sum both Jordan and I up so perfectly! I gave them a little rearrange lately and I’m feeling pretty proud of the outcome…
Although I know Jo doesn’t mind that I have taken over the bedroom with my entire life, I always try to make the other rooms very neutral – so the kitchen is all white and mint, and the living room is very brass and grey.
The living room especially is his place, packed full of his games and music and trinkets. When I rearranged the shelves, I wanted quite a musical set-up as we’re such musical people! Well, I just listen to music but you know what I mean…
The two white cabinets that sit under our TV (not pictured but any true KLV reader will know what I’m talking about!) were packed full of our combined record collection (although about five are actually mine).
I took them all out and popped them on the shelves… which sounds way easier than it was, those things are heavy! And the records kept slipping out at all angles. Nightmare. We almost lost U2 at one point, but my reflexes won.
I love the way they look all stacked together, it’s that organised clutter style that I loooove – and I propped them up with my beaut Marble Book Ends! I got a good thing going on here.
Our Crosley record player sits here too, one of my favourite purchases ever! I get asked a lot if this is worth it, and it really is – but I would definitely choose a Keepsake style over the smaller units as the sound is way better.
We also only listen to ours through our Marshall Acton Speaker, which makes all the difference! We like loud music. Our neighbours? Probably not so much…
The other decorations come in the form of brass bits and bobs, candles and books! I love decorating with books, so much so that I might even put together a blog post on it soon.
We put some of the smaller records in a brass basket which adds a little somethin’ somethin’ and also keeps everything all tidy and neat. Perfect!
I have one super adorable Fornasetti candle sitting up there too, which I’m very much in love with. These are up there with Diptyque as they smell so delicious and the packaging is unreal – every scent is so quirky and fun!
A cute little set-up for music lovers like us. What do you think of our new shelf style?
