Well, there’s a lot to be said for January and all it’s misery, but this month has been flying by and I’m feeling pretty thankful. I hate to wish time away, but it has felt like a bit of a boring time. It’s typical of me to want downtime after the busy-ness of Christmas, but then decide halfway through that actually, it’s not for me. I’m too restless for this life!
I think my month can be summed up by a cycle of Succession, Wordle and Rightmove. I’ve done very little else, but after a break and some time away from my phone I feel quite revived, so I guess it was much needed!
Anyway, it’s time for a little catch up, so here’s what’s new with me…
Some Kitchen Progress
As you might know, we’ve been planning to update our pandemic kitchen for a while now. I can’t believe I’ve left it this long, but I wanted to do it in the most planet-friendly way – obviously it’s not ideal changing a kitchen that is less than a year old but well, sometimes these things are unavoidable aren’t they!
We actually managed to do it with very little waste, and it’s turned out even better than I hoped. It was the layout that was the main issue – when we planned this kitchen we couldn’t even get over to measure (it was in the first lockdown for reference) so a lot of errors were made. I won’t bore you with the details but I’m thankful that I now have a functional kitchen for the first time in 18 months! This is obviously a massive deal to me because I really, truly love cooking – and I just haven’t ever loved cooking in our pandemic kitchen.
This week I did some baking for the first time in this flat and we’ve been cooking more and just enjoying the space. I think I could probably get a degree in designing a tenement kitchen at this point!
Lots Of Good Viewing
As I said, we’ve been on a Succession mission lately! We started it a week ago and we’re already on to the season series – what a show. I said it’s like Gossip Girl in suits and I’m not going to give you any more than that. Definitely pop it on if you’re needing an easy but gripping watch.
I’ve also been watching Euphoria now it’s back which is just as mad as ever! It’s absolutely wild and definitely not for the faint of heart, but the cast is just amazing. I’m the biggest Zendaya fan so I’ll watch anything she’s in.
I think we’re going to start Yellowjackets next, I’ve heard so many good things! January is just made for getting through hours of TV isn’t it?
A New Project
I said this year was going to be the year I started a new project, and I’m sticking to that – having something new to focus on is so motivating. I’ve spent hours at my laptop over the last few weeks, planning and jotting down ideas and making lists and boards. This is the most inspired I’ve felt in a long time, so I’m hoping it all comes together soon. I’ll fill you in as soon as I have more details!
A few goals for the coming weeks…
+ Sort out my wardrobe and plan outfits to get me out of this loungewear lull. I want to go through my wardrobe, streamline it and plan outfits to wear. I was going to create an album on my phone of photos of outfits that I can just throw on and go when I can’t be bothered thinking about it.I also want to debobble and steam my clothes so they’re all in great condition, so I might spend this weekend doing that!
+ Start sorting through the flat to get ready to sell. Our plan for the coming months is to sell this flat… although that’s as far as we’ve got in terms of planning. I have no idea what we’ll do next but I just know I need a change! I think Edinburgh is probably on the cards for us, it seems like a great place to relocate to without too much upheaval. The Rightmove search is in full swing, as you can imagine…
+ Make more time for pampering! How terrible is it that I have to actively set aside time to look after myself!? Who even am I? I guess it’s easy to put off things like this because there’s always something you could be doing – laundry, the dishes, emails… you get it, right?
I want to make my beauty routines a priority because I know they make me feel so much better, especially whitening my teeth and fake tanning, too jobs I despise until I do them!
+ Get in to better habits. There’s so many practices I want to make part of my routine – like a nightly closing shift where I put the dishwasher on, tidy the living room and get myself sorted for the following morning. As well as daily walks, less time on my phone and more time reading. I know I can commit to them eventually, I just need to get the ball rolling!
So that was a bit of an uplifting update from me, I feel like I’ve had a bit of a cloud over my head lately but today the sun is out, I’m feeling hopeful and I wanted to pass on a bit of positivity too!
What’s new with you all? How’s January been so far?
