A few achievable aims…
We’re well in to the ‘ber’ months at this point and, although I’m always happier in the warmer months, I can’t help but romanticise this time of year! I blame Taylor Swift?
The colour palette, the cosy evenings in, a slightly slower pace – I’m definitely welcoming it right now. Ask me how I’m feeling in a month when we’re really in the throes of winter weather and I’m having a tantrum about the lack of sun and the endless dark mornings… but until then!
01. Have some downtime.
I’ve been pretty consistently busy since this time last year, which I’ve totaaally embraced after the pandemic lull! Between filming, creating content, seeing people again and even travelling (!! who would have thought!), it feels like time has just slipped away! I’ve been taking it easy over the last few weeks, or at least trying to take it easy – I said I’d never go back to my old busy routines when life resumed, yet here I am in the constant tiresome cycle of work, socialising and staying on top of admin/chores/sleep/exercise once again! I guess this is just real life??? It’s EXHAUSTING.
My dad is staying with us at the moment, he arrived last week and it’s been lovely to have him here. We hadn’t seen him since we left New Zealand at the end of 2019, so it’s been a pretty miserable two years not having him close by. I’m glad I can take a couple of weeks off to spend some proper time with him, I’m hoping I can rope him in to some DIY around the flat but we’ll see how that goes down…

2. Finish the kitchen.
How long have I been saying this?! Our kitchen was a slap-dash job during the first lockdown and I’ve hated it ever since. I probably wouldn’t bother changing it if I didn’t cook so much, but it’s such a frustrating space that I’ve been planning a mini-makeover to rework the layout a little bit. Tenement kitchens are always tricky because they weren’t created with the modern kitchen in mind, which obviously makes reworking the room quite the process!
I’m waiting for tiles to come back in to stock and then I hope to get it done – fingers crossed it’s an easy process. I’ll share a moodboard before I get started so you can see my ideas, I’m excited to show you what I have in mind!

03. Plan a project for next year.
I haven’t had a new project in a while; I started a few lockdown hobbies (didn’t we all?! Props to anyone still continuing with them!) but I’ve found myself wanting to try something new. I thought we’d maybe have found a house by now, or I’d be working on releasing something, but nothing has stuck and I’m very much a ‘hold on until the right thing comes along’ kind of person (but only with work – with everything else I’m impatient as hell!)
Anyway, it’s time to set myself some slightly unrealistic goals for next year so I’m hoping a new project will find it’s way in to the mix. I’d love to hear about any projects you’re working on! I need some *inspiration*…

04. A festive trip away.
I’m desperate to go away to celebrate my birthday in December! I really want to visit Paris again, and it’s Jord and I’s ten year anniversary around the same time so I think that’s a good enough reason to make a trip, if restrictions etc. allow. I went to Paris at Christmas with a friend a few years ago and I’ve been desperate to go back ever since, there’s just something so magical about the City of Lights during the festive season. Anyone else dreaming of Paris?
05. Make The Most Of The Coming Months
Honestly, I feel like finally, FINALLY, there’s a bit of hope for us – we can make some semi-solid plans and see people, go for dinner, plan trips etc. which still feels like quite the novelty when this time last year life was still so up in the air. I really want to enjoy Christmas, especially with the filming of the Christmas special of Scotland’s Home Of The Year starting soon – I think that will really get me in to the festive spirit.
After filming is finished, I’m hoping to get some fun Christmas content on the go – I usually do lots of cocktail posts, festive interior updates as well as gift guides and other inspiration-type updates. I feel like, for the first time in forever, there’s actually something to look forward to right now!
So that’s the rest of 2021 wrapped up – nothing too wild, just wholesome fun for the next couple of months! What are you planning for the rest of the year?
