You won’t be surprised to learn that New York is my favourite city in the world. It’s just so bustling and busy, the enormous buildings making you feel like an ant. Something is always happening, and there’s something for everyone.
My recent trip was one of my best yet; I knew my way around the city a lot better, I had a whole list of new places to try – some of them popping up out of nowhere since my last visit there earlier this year!
I’ve already got the ultimate Big Apple city guide here, but I thought I’d take it to the next level with my Instagram guide to the dreamy city.
by CHLOE.
I usually find plant-based food is pretty Instagrammable anyway (all those colours), but by CHLOE. is something else!
The monogram branding is seriously swoon-worthy, and the food is delicious. It was one of my favourite finds during my last visit, so it’s well worth checking out.
Sprinkles Cupcakes
There’s a few of these dotted around the city, but I recommend finding the one on Lexington Ave with the bright pink cupcake ATM!
Everything from the interiors to the branding to the perfectly decorated cakes make this the best spot for Instagram snaps.
Egg Shop
I always try and find time to squeeze in a trip to Egg Shop when I’m in New York – there’s really nothing else like it!
Specialising in perfect plates of egg sandwiches and bowls, this little joint has the cutest interiors and the most amazing food. What a winning combo.
NARS 413 Bleecker
This is the original NARS boutique, and it’s an absolute joy for the eyes! The lines of products, the giant marbled bookcase… it’s basically my dream home!
Plus, they have an exclusive collection (413 BLKR) for you to swatch.
Times Square
Tacky, touristy, insanely busy… Times Sq. really is something else. There’s no way to understand how crazy it is unless you see it for yourself.
I’m not usually down with the overly touristy sights, but everyone has to see Times Square. It’s absolutely awful.
Brooklyn Bridge
I really, really adore New York’s breathtaking bridges, and Brooklyn Bridge really is a dream to walk over. The bridge itself is perfectly photogenic, but it also offers some of the best views of Manhattan Bridge and Manhattan itself. Swoon!
Saks Fifth Avenue
This is just so New York; the yellow cabs zooming past, flags billowing… it’s rude not to put a snap of the booming department storm on Instagram!
Dough
Donuts are such a New York staple, so it makes sense for them to feature on your feed!
I love Dough, their offerings are just so delish – and they don’t mind you standing at the counter and getting snap-happy.
Top Of The Rock
You have to do one of the viewing platforms when you’re in the city, and I recommend going to the top of the Rockefeller Center! For one, you get a great view of the Empire State Building, and it’s also a lot quieter (and cheaper) than the other options. Go crazy with photos in every direction!
One World Trade Center
Alternatively, there’s the One World Observatory. This is unreal – it’s the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and you can see for miles.
It’s a bit of faff with all the tickets and queuing (pre-buy tickets!), but it’s worth it. Dizzying heights, incredible views… it’s amazing.
Flatiron Building
This iconic building is situated in Midtown, and it’s definitely something you have to see during your trip.
Stand on the pedestrian crossing and get those flowers in for maximum Insta love.
ABC Carpet & Home
I don’t usually recommend stores to snap as you tend to get a telling off from the staff, but everyone has to witness the beauty that is ABC Home. It’s over a few floors and it’s an interiors dream!
They also sell some amazing beauty brands and fit in a couple of restaurants. Heaven.
Jack’s Wife Freda
This is definitely quite a cult restaurant in New York, and I totally get why. It’s gorgeous!
I’ve been here for dinner and brunch, and it never disappoints. The rosewater waffle is basically the most flawless Instagram snap ever – just make sure you get the menus in!
The Butcher’s Daughter
Another must-visit, The Butcher’s Daughter is such a beautiful restaurant with a flawless menu. There’s so much to Instagram in here, from the food to the decor… and the beautiful hanging plant feature!
Morgenstern’s Ice Cream
This place definitely gets the award for most beautiful ice cream shop! Morgenstern’s has been doing the rounds on social media for their black ice cream, but I went for salted caramel pretzel and strawberry. Shame it melted in the insane New York heat before I could turn my camera on (seriously!).
It’s still the best ice cream I’ve ever eaten, I’m desperate to go back…
Cha Cha Matcha
I discovered this coffee shop while waiting for friends, and I was so glad I did! The decor is just amazing – pink walls and botanical seats. So. Pinterest.
Get yourself an iced drink and ‘gram the place.
Central Park
Of course, Central Park just had to make the cut. There’s so many corners to photograph, it’s all so mesmerising. I love the way the skyscrapers show through the trees, it really is an urban jungle.
Take a walk and snap away.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir
The reservoir in Central Park is the most incredible place ever. It’s quite deep in to the park, but it’s worth just getting the subway to if you’re short on time.
It offers the best views of the city, in my opinion – and it’s beautiful in summer and winter.
New York really is an Instagrammer’s dream, so be sure to check out some of my recommendations if you’re in the city. This makes me want to look at flights for another visit… three times in a year isn’t excessive, is it?!
