The week so far…
Another week, another little rundown! You remember how Fridays didn’t really have the same vibe in lockdown? That’s kind of how I feel while pregnant. Fridays used to be for sharing a bottle of wine after a long week, but these days it’s a cup of decaf tea and bed by 10! To be honest though, I don’t hate it…
Here’s what’s new with me this week…
01. I feel like I have such a good routine right now, being pregnant at this time of year is giving me lockdown vibes (oh my god, why have I mentioned lockdown twice already?!) – I think because I’ve put less pressure on myself to get everything done, I’m actually getting more done! I’m going at a slower pace which is allowing me to not get so burnt out and overwhelmed. Jord and I wake up early and have a coffee in bed while I do my crossword (genuinely. I have reached retirement age) and then we go for a walk around the park before coming back and making breakfast. I get ready for the day and I’m usually at my laptop for 10 or 11 – which old me would freak out about, but new me is just happy I’m fed, walked and feeling productive! Even though I start working later, I manage to fit so much more in to my day. I just feel so good for it – it’s weird what can happen when you give yourself a bit of a break huh!
Has anyone else continued at a slower pace post-pandemmy, or have we all been sucked in to the corporate rush once again? I’m very curious!
02. We’re going on a road trip to Skye next week and I am beyond excited – the most excited I’ve possibly ever been for a trip away! I love the independence of a semi-local trip; we can pack everything we need in to the car and not worry about overpacking, we can plan our own route and we don’t have to worry about flights or delays, and it means we can make a playlist, hang out and eat snacks while seeing some of my favourite scenery!
Plus – and this is kind of a weird one – I’m not a big fan of going out for dinner! I don’t mind it so much in Glasgow when we fancy trying somewhere new, but when we’re away I just like the flexibility of cooking a laidback dinner ourselves. On our local trips we do just that, and this time we’re hoping to borrow Jord’s dads pizza oven for our luxury camping experience and maybe also pack a picnic to have somewhere in Skye. I just can’t waaaaait, you’re gonna scream when you see where we’re staying!!

03. We had a little setback with the bathroom in the other flat but hopefully now we’re making progress. I’m so excited to have it done – and to have the whole flat done! I do have mixed feelings about moving, obviously it’ll be great in the long run and will suit us when we’re juggling a newborn, but I also feel like it’s a bit of a downgrade too. Hopefully some new furnishings, a fresh bathroom and a big clear out will help us feel settled there.
I have a few more moodboards to share with you too so I’ll get them together for the coming weeks. I just love a moodboard!
04. My sole aim for today is to find a new book to read, I’ve been flying through my pregnancy books and I think I’m finally at a good place with basic knowledge, but now it’s time for some non-fiction! The only problem is my brain is mush. I didn’t realise how bad baby brain would be until I literally could no longer focus on anything. I just need something very easy to follow to throw me back in, nothing like I would usually read. Maybe I’ll have to scour the Young Adult shelves to kickstart the reading fun! Wish me luck…
Happy Friday you lovely lot, I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Mine is going to be filled with naps, TV and birthday fun for my bestie – the best way to spend a weekend!
