Embracing cosy traditions…
*This post is in collaboration with Dr. Vranjes Firenze.
There’s something about the chilly days and dark evenings of autumn that just make you want to romanticise every aspect of your life! I am a homebody through and through, there’s nothing that makes me happier than a rainy day at home with a book and a blanket, alongside a pot of tea and a record playing in the background.
I fully believe that no cosy day or evening in should be without a candle, they really make days at home all the more relaxing. They are part of my self-care routine, I burn them to create a homely, romantic atmosphere and the flickering glow makes nights on the sofa oh so cosy! This season, I’m burning some of my favourite scents from . Their opulent jars add a touch of luxury to my home too, I love having them on my coffee table.
I really have come to appreciate this time of year, I’ve learned to embrace the downtime and I look forward to nights in. It’s become a bit of a tradition for us during autumn – like an unwritten rule that weekday evenings are for having zero plans and absolutely no reason to leave the flat!
Each is housed in the prettiest glass jar with a design inspired by Brunelleschi’s dome in Florence and crafted by local glass makers in Tuscany. Not only do the Dr. Vranjes Firenze candles look beautiful, they smell incredible too – I have three or four dotted around my home and I burn them when I need a little pick-me-up.
The scents are thrown even when the candles are unlit, so you’re always getting hints of the fragrance around the home. I tend to go for woody and floral scents, leaning towards more earthy notes at this time of the year. I’m currently burning the Ginger Lime Pearl candle in the 200gr size, I adore any sort of ginger scent towards Christmas, the zingy notes smell so crisp and comforting and the addition of the zesty lime gives it a lovely citrus note.
This is the second I’ve owned, and as soon as I unboxed it I was transported back to earlier this year. For me, scent is so tied to nostalgia so the delicious notes instantly reminded me of early spring when Jord and I spent a lot of time together at home, usually listening to records and drinking coffee in our sunny living room. It was almost a buried memory from a rather uneventful time, but being reminded of it felt so sentimental. I love how even just burning a candle, something I do so often, can have such an evocative effect on me.
Also here is the in the smallest size, this has notes of watermelon, jasmine and cassis. It’s fruity without being overly sweet, filling my living room with a dreamy comforting scent. I haven’t yet lit it, but I can tell it’ll be a beautiful scent to burn at this time of year – the festive red jar next to the fresh eucalyptus feels so Christmassy to me!
I love that I can fully embrace this time of year – as soon as the chilly nights roll in, out come the blankets and candles, and the stack of books on my coffee table doubles in size. Warming teas make an appearance and soon we’ll have the flat decorated for Christmas!
