Effortless makeup at it’s best…
Gone are the days of heavily running blacker than black eyeliner along my lower lash line, these days this emo kid is all about the stripped back look! Even on nights out I’ll usually opt for a sparkly shadow swept along my lids and a bit of lipstick – nothing too wild here.
Saying that, I’m a sucker for a good base product and so my routine isn’t exactly what you’d call “pared back”! Gimme a good primer and anything illuminating, and I’ll find a way to add it in to my routine…
My makeup bag hasn’t changed much recently so I credit the below with being my go-to products for the last few months – the kind of products I’m almost certain I’ll replace when they’re used up, which is saying something! Allow me to introduce…
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer*; Admittedly I haven’t tried a lot of GA makeup, but this hydrating primer was sent my way and I decided to give it a whirl. Like I said, I’m a primer obsessive and anything that offers a bit of hydration is all good with me. This feels instantly cooling once applied and it really goes a long way in helping my skin to feel prepped before I apply my base, meaning a more refined finish to my entire look. I didn’t expect to love this as much as I do, it’s a must have!
Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm*; I’ve been a long-time fan of this wonder-working balm, it’s pretty much an illuminating primer and I loooove to mix it in with the GA Hydrating Primer. The two combined do something seriously magical to my skin.
This is pretty much a multi-purpose product; sweep it on all over as a primer, mix it in with your foundation for a dewier finish or just pat on where you need it for a soft-focus glow.
Glossier FutureDew*; If I’m not slathering on a cocktail of the above, I slick on some of this little wonder worker! I feel like this has received mixed reviews since it’s release, but I really rate it! A little goes a long way, but when blended in to the skin with fingers it adds such a juicy glow to the complexion.
I use it like a primer just before my foundation, and I find my base sits better and my skin looks smoother, more radiant and a whole lot more polished on the whole. 5 stars from me.
Origins Pretty In Bloom SPF30 Foundation*; I was overjoyed to see one of my favourite brands release a base product recently and I was even lucky enough to work with them on the launch (although I’m not paid for this inclusion), and I can hand-on-heart say this has to be one of my favourite foundations EVER. I knew from first application that I was on to a winner – it applies beautifully, has just the right amount of coverage, and it looks magical on the skin. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve loved a base product this much.
BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Foundation Stick*; On my better skin days or when I’m only running out for a quick coffee or a relaxed meeting, this is my saviour! I’ve found myself using a lot of BareMinerals products in the last few months, I definitely overlooked them for way too long. I love how soft and easy to blend this is, the builable coverage means it’s a great all-rounder product too – keep it handy for everyday use, travelling or just popping in your gym bag. I swear by it!
Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer*;
My under-eye area is never something I’ve ever struggled with (plenty other imperfections to deal with though!), but lately I’ve been feeling like this long ass winter isn’t doing me any favours. I look EXHAUSTED half the time.
Thankfully for me, Hourglass sent me over one of their new Vanish Airbrush Concealers and I’m now looking a little more put-together. If you haven’t tried this oh so creamy concoction yet, I highly recommend the splurge! Perky peepers in one quick application.
BareMinerals Endless Glow Highlighter in Fierce*; I’ve given this golden highlighter some airtime before, it’s just the thing for adding a subtle, sunkissed sparkle to the skin! The shade I have, Fierce, is actually a little darker than my usual highlighting powder but I love the way it warms my skin – it’s almost doing the work of a bronzer too. I sweep it on lightly to the areas where the sun hits my face and I feel like it instantly makes me look like I’ve had a long weekend in Ibiza, which is ideal really.
Glossier BoyBrow; Now this, this is the Holy Grail of brow products. It gets a lot of love, does BoyBrow, but I truly think it’s worthy of every bit of praise it gets. I tend to shape my brows with a pencil first, and then go in with this for added volume and shape. It’s such an effortless product and it works wonders even on its own. I am obsessed.
Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara*; Of course, where would I be without this mascara? Layer it up for seriously fluttery lashes, or go in lightly for a more relaxed, wide-eyed look. It’s oh so versatile and my makeup bag wouldn’t be the same without it!
Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss in Sweet Talk*; Some more Bobbi love coming your way, these glosses are the latest launch from the brand and I am IN LOVE. The formula is so perfecting; it smoothes and plumps lips in one quick application. Plus, the shade range is fabulous and the non-sticky formula is the best thing to happen in all these storms we’ve been having. FAREWELL hair stuck in lip gloss.
This was basically a look inside my makeup bag from the last few months – sometimes you find products you love and there’s no need to switch them up! Have you tried any of these?
