A luxe edit for cosy evenings…
Candles are by far my most loved luxury item, especially throughout winter when we barely leave the house and the flickering glow of an expensive candle is all we have left to live for.
I spend most evenings buried under a soft throw, spooning my water bottle and watching a film with one of my favourite candles adding a bit of romance. So dreamy!
I mean, sure, candles are literally like burning money, but we all have our vices. It’s just that mine are beautifully scented and come packaged in pretty boxes.
I’ve got a really lovely selection on the go right now, I do try and wait until I’ve finished a candle until I start another, but I tend to have one in the bathroom that I light at bath time, and another in the living room for burning while we watch a film. I usually only have one burning at a time though, so I must have some self-restraint at least.
Le Labo Santal 26
This scent is totally ‘trendy New York hotel lobby’ and I will never be sick of it. I adore how musky and fresh this smells – it’s lovely and androgynous, with a hint of leather.
I think this makes for such a comforting scent, it fills the room and really smells like home to me!
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir
The Holy Grail! If there’s a perfect winter scent, this is it. I have this as a fragrance, a bath oil and a candle and I love them all, the scent is just so festive and special – it reminds me of this time of year because I always become so obsessed with it throughout winter. One to add to your stash for sure.

Byredo Woods
I’m a huge Byredo fan, their scents are all so meaningful to me (I was wearing one when I got engaged, and another when I got married!)
There’s never been an offering of theirs I haven’t loved, and this Woods candle is no exception. The scent is very floral and almost peppery, inspired by woodland walks and with notes of cedarwood, leather and jasmine. Plus, that packing… too perfect.
Diptyque Santal
I have many, many favourite Diptyque candles, but I got Santal without even smelling it (a risky move!) and I think it’s gone right to the top of my list. I adore woody scents, and this is absolutely incredible – I haven’t even lit it yet but I get little wafts of it when I’m getting ready in the morning and I can’t wait to burn it! I can’t even do the scent justice so you’re just going to have to trust me on this one, okay?
So that’s that then. I’m obsessed with candles. Any other recommendations to add to my list?
