A Bedroom Update
As you know, we’re moving soon so I’m in full nesting mode, planning and designing the spaces in preparation for the relocation. The bedroom in our next place is much bigger than our current one which is going to be such a blessing with a newborn! I’ve had so much fun with this room, I feel like I want it very peaceful and comfortable for those first few months with a baby – especially right at the very start when I doubt I’ll be leaving bed all too often.
We have a lot of green in our home and that’s because it’s a colour I never get sick of! It’s so calming and tranquil, which makes it perfect for a bedroom, and it feels quite understated and timeless too.
Sage tones, which are my favourite, can sometimes feel a little cold which is why I’m introducing a lot of wood to warm it up a little. I’ll also add in some gingham, which brings a bit of fun to the theme, and rattan touches to add some texture.
I’ve been on the hunt for an arched headboard for the longest time. We bought a platform bed for our current place and the idea was to change out the headboard as we felt like it – I thought I’d eventually find a cute upholstered headboard in an arch shape or wavy design. In reality, the separate headboard/bed combo just wasn’t comfortable – it’s impossible to sit up in our bed and the bed is always moving away from the wall. I knew I needed a better solution and thankfully some early morning googling led me to ! It’s pretty much exactly what I had in mind for our new room.
I’m hoping to hunt down some beautiful sage linen bedding, along with olive striped sheets and cushions, and make the comfiest, cosiest bed to exist.

I’m not sure if I want to change out our bedside tables, I did plan to put them in storage for a bit of a change. I’m absolutely loving the bobbin trend right now so when I spied these bedside tables, I had to add them to my wishlist. I love that they’re slightly off-colour and not your typical black and white painted pieces. These are also SO beautiful, especially with a rattan lampshade and a gold ornament alongside.
The other piece I’m searching for is a comfy accent chair – is that an oxymoron? I’m not sure accent chairs are designed for their ergonomics, but hopefully I can find something that is both cloud-like and cute.
I’ve got my eye on one of the fabulous boucle offerings we’re seeing everywhere right now, although I have no idea how they’ll fare with the cats! There’s no telling what our cats will use as a scratching post, although they are usually quite well behaved. Maybe they’ll go easy on such a pretty piece!
I’m hoping the end result of our bedroom will be quite minimal and plush, with lots of textures and soft furnishings and a very serene feel. Perfect for endless days in bed getting interrupted sleep eh?
What do you think of these pieces? Has anything caught your eye?
