Our Vinyl Wall.

One of my favourite features…

I knew when we were renovating this place that we would have a vinyl wall. It was something we had hoped to have in our old flat, but we just didn’t have the space! Admittedly, the feature is nowhere near our vinyl player or record collection, but I still think it works well and brings something to the room.

The vinyl wall sits in our office, the room I work from most days. Often Jord will use this room to record in, so it makes sense to have a bit of a musical theme in here.
We used The Vinyl Wall shelf brackets, carefully fixed to our wonky tenement walls! My friend Em and her boyfriend Dani dreamt up the idea and brought them to life – the perfect way to display your record collection.

They’re pretty easy to put up (less so if you own a Victorian home, but we got there!) and the shelves come in a few different finishes, we went for natural. We put them up above our sideboard on a black space of wall and the idea was to add a record player underneath (usually a speaker sits here too, but it’s constantly being moved around the flat) but we decided it wasn’t necessary in the end. It looks great as a standalone feature.

What I love most about these is that you can swap out the records to totally switch up the space! Jord actually styled the set-up we have currently, he’s pretty particular about his record collection so at the moment we have the empty sleeves on display but I keep saying we should hunt down some classics so we can have the actual records sitting up there (rather than records we actually play often!).

I’m sure there will be many variations of this vinyl wall to come, as our record collection expands. I love how fun it looks with the terracotta wall and Jord’s guitars next to it.

What do you think of a vinyl wall?
