Hello Autumn!

It’s spooky season!

You should all know by now, that when my Prada constellation bag comes out of storage, autumn is here! I’m actually a little late with it this year because we’ve had a bit of rain, but the sun has been shining recently so we made the most of that beautiful autumn glow.

I wanted to give you all a bit of an update, because it’s been a while since I last posted on here – a totally unexpected break really, and for no real reason other than I’ve just had a bit going on behind the scenes. Life has been a lot lately, with new restrictions introduced and the feeling that normal life will never resume, and I just haven’t felt very inspired to create anything. I’m very much affected by my surroundings, so my mood and motivation can really be dependant on external factors – not ideal during a pandemic! But we move.

With that in mind, I thought it was a good time to set myself a few goals for the remainder of the year and sort of update you all too. You know I love a goals post!
This is a funny time of year for me, with the filming of Scotland’s Home Of The Year which always absolutely ruins me! It’s such an exhausting, all consuming process – I spend the entire month wishing I was at home, and then as soon as I’m home I wish I was back out on the road with my SHOTY family. I find it really hard to adjust afterwards, it always feels a bit like I’m living a double life!

I don’t really have an update for you in terms of the filming of the show, it’s a very difficult time so I’m not able to share any news but I will once I know more. It’s a priority though, so I have no doubt you’ll see the third series hitting your screens next Spring!

Some of you may also know that this month marks a year without my mum. She passed away after a difficult battle with Motor Neurone Disease last October, and the anniversary has left me feeling reflective and distant. I wasn’t sure how I would feel on the day actually, I don’t really like marking the date of such a sad time but it’s hard to ignore it. I usually spend any sort of significant date with my little brother, so last week we went for lunch and a long walk and it was a lovely day!
I think about how far I’ve come since this time last year and I feel a funny sense of accomplishment. It’s been a really tough couple of years for me, and maybe I haven’t always been my best, but I feel proud of the way I’ve managed to find happiness in such an uncertain time. I like to think my mum would be proud of me, for the most part I feel content with where I’m at in my life. I just wish she was here to see it.

I don’t want to put too myself on myself for the rest of the year (gosh 2020 has FLOWN IN!), but I always find it helpful to lay out a bit of a plan, so here’s what I’m hoping to achieve over the coming months…

Get Back In To A Routine

Is it possible to even have a routine right now?! It’s such a weird time, I feel more unsettled now than I did right at the start! Saying that, I love a bit of loose structure so I’ve been going for a big walk with a coffee each morning and then setting myself a goal to produce one piece of content a day. I feel a bit out of sorts right now, as I’m sure we all do! I miss my friends, my old life, travelling, my family, knowing what I can and can’t do! I’m all over the place – but I think a bit of routine in my life will really help me to gain some control back.

Make More Progress With The Flat

I definitely got a little burnt out towards the end of the renovations with this place! It’s safe to say I did not ever think I’d have to finish it all up quickly during a pandemic. There’s a lot of hurried decisions I want to change (ie. the kitchen!), but I feel a bit over it all now. I wish it could have gone differently, but I know I just need a break from all the decision-making so I can come back to it with fresh eyes.
This month I’m hoping to get our spare room finished, and also our bedroom – which doesn’t need much doing, just our bedside lights fitted and our new wardrobes sorted – and all our artwork put up finally! I’d also like to paint the hallway a lovely colour, but I need to think about what shade I want. Another decision that can probably wait!

See More Of Scotland

Jordie and I have always been such city dwellers, we love our neighbourhood and never really leave unless it’s to travel abroad. We live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, but we barely explore it! We decided to get a car this month so we can take road trips to Loch Lomond, Glencoe, and maybe even Skye (my favourite place!) – I’m just so excited to see more of Scotland because it really is so dreamy. Not sure how I feel about driving again though, it has been a while!
I’m hoping we can do a little log cabin getaway to celebrate my 30th in December – let me know if there’s anywhere you recommend.

Get Creative With My Content

I’ve got a list as long as my arm of posts and videos I want to do, but I often overload myself and feel overwhelmed by everything I want to do. When I’m keeping busy I feel so happy, I love making fun and inspiring content for you guys! I hope I can find my motivation and get back to producing some beautiful photos for you – it really is the best feeling when you all love what I upload. Fingers crossed!

So that’s the rest of my year wrapped up – let’s hope life can resume as soon as possible! What have you got planned for the rest of 2020?
