2015’s Best Beauty Discoveries.

2015bestbeauty

Well, hasn’t this year been exciting in terms of beauty! It feels like I discovered some real gems these last twelve months, so it felt fitting to round them up in my annual ‘best beauty discoveries’ post. The excitement! Keep your wishlists handy, ladies…

SKINCARE

PIXI Nourishing Sleep Mask
This stuff was definitely my skincare find of the year; the soft, creamy moisturiser feels lush to apply and really transforms skin overnight. I’m already through one tube, but there’s more than a few currently sitting in my Cult Beauty basket… along with many other PIXI skincare treats!
Expect a soft, supple and super clear complexion come morning.

Aesop Fabulous Face Oil
I know, I know – I need to stop talking about this stuff! It’s my spot saviour, taking down just about any blemish overnight. It’s hydrating without being greasy, and it sinks in instantly for skin that just glows.

Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Mask
I only discovered this stuff a few months back, but it definitely earned itself a spot in my routine! Spot being the operative word, since it calms blemishes in one use! I always have this on hand in case of skin emergencies, it seems to work miracles on lumps and bumps, oversized pores and oily complexions. A must have, for sure – and quite reasonably priced for a mask, too.

This Works Energy Bank Sun Flash
Another skincare find I recommended a lot this year was this ‘holiday in a bottle’ product. I was recommended this by my fave Space NK girl, after I had been on holiday. I wanted something to darken my foundation after a sunny holiday, and it worked wonders. I didn’t need to repurchase my base, and it really improved the overall look of my skin.
I tend to mix it with my moisturiser these days, as it adds such a warm glow to my face.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
Ahh this stuff. I’ve spent my whole life looking for a good day cream, and finally I’ve found it. This creamy, quenching bad boy instantly hydrates the skin without ANY of the adverse effects. No heavy, tacky feeling, or makeup slipping off by lunchtime. It’s not overly scented or overly expensive. Me love. Side note: I share it with my boyfriend, and the pot lasts well!

MAKEUP

Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight
This stuff. Now this stuff was a gamechanger. Technically I didn’t buy this in 2015, but I had an Alan Partridge moment of realisation this year. I can’t imagine life without this enhancing powder, it does wonders for adding an incredible glow to the skin, and I find it really helps to minimise imperfections, pores and all that.

MAC All Fired Up Lipstick
2015 was the year I delved in to bright lipsticks, and one of my favourites has to be All Fired Up. This deep, almost red/fuchsia became my colour throughout the summer, and I’m still obsessed with the beautiful hue.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer
I’ve told myself I’m going to be loyal to this awesome under-eye concealer from now on, I just love how quickly and easily it covers up dark circles. One sweep and those late nights are erased! Plus, the no-budge texture is an absolute winner. I do love thee, Bobbi Brown.

Clinique Colour Pop Lip Colour
I think we all fell in love with these pigmented, creamy lip colours! The irresistible formula and on form texture really paved the way for bold lips in 2015! I love Passion Pop and Poppy Pop – both bright hues that made red lips too easy.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Suede
I am a big fan of creamy shadows, and this chic Suede shade made the cut. This makes a really good primer for boosting the colour of powder shadows, but I also love it smudged in to my lower lashes for a bit of drama. It’s subtle but really adds something to the eyes!

HAIRCARE

O&M Know Knott Detangler
I love using detanglers, they do so much for my fine hair! This stuff was one of the best hair finds of the year as it’s so intensely conditioning, making the brushing process all too easy. It’s enriched with incredible ingredients for some serious shine, and makes my hair smell dreamy too.
I’ll be trying more of this brand in 2016!

R+Co Dallas Thickening Spray
While I found myself loving the R+Co Salt Spray last year, it’s the Thickening Spray that held my attention this year. This volume-boosting spritz added so much life to my flat locks, and it did it all without looking obvious in the hair. Plus, it smells amazing.

ETC.

Jo Malone Wild Fig & Cassis
I do love my Jo Malone colognes, and Wild Fig was the find that stuck out for me this year. It’s fragrant, sexy and quite sophisticated – I like these musky, understated scents, they’re very me. The fruity notes really pull the whole fragrance together.

Diptyque Cypres Candle
I bought this festive candle recently, and I’m absolutely addicted to the incredible scent. I find that Diptyque scents can be a little wishy-washy, but this one really throws the dreamy fragrance. I imagine pine cones and woody notes when it’s burning, it’s just beautiful!

Lush Rough With The Smooth
I love this so much, I bought about 7 new bars in the sale. It’s my favourite shower staple as it smells delicious (like seriously, seriously amazing), and really scrubs the skin – making limbs glow! I really recommend snapping one of these up, they last well and really improve the shower experience. Yup.

NARS Kabuki Artisan Yachiyo Brush
I picked this up in New York after months and months of lusting after it, and I haven’t regretted it. I usually use it with Hourglass blushes and Kevyn Aucoin powders, as it’s so light on the skin and really blends well. Plus, it doesn’t leave bristles on the face! WIN.

Formula X Nail Polishes
We all know I’m pretty loyal to Essie polishes, but I gave these Formula X picks a chance, and I never looked back. I found the Formula X The System set in Sephora in the US, and it was love on first application. Incredible colours, perfect brush and formula, and they whole system means a long-lasting mani. Woop!

Will you be trying any of these?
