Evening Makeup.

evemakeup

When it comes to both day and evening makeup, I tend to stick to what I know – but with a pinch of added drama. It’s not too out there – for me anyway – but it’s easy enough to make it a little more wearable for the day, and then smoke it up at night for an effortless day to night look. I got you covered.

I went for Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation (£32) as I know this is a great all-rounder for all skin tones and types. It smoothes over my lumps and bumps (of which there are many) and conceals just about everything – from redness to dark circles and even acne scarring. As it’s inspired by BB creams, it has some skincare properties in there too – meaning it lasts really well and skin feels comfortably hydrated throughout the day… and evening.

On my cheeks, I went for my staple shade at the moment – the Hourglass Ambient Light Blush in Mood Exposure (£28). Sigh, this is so achingly beautiful that sometimes I feel bad using it. But I still do anyway. The flattering hue is the perfect shade for boosting the complexion in winter, and the added light reflecting powder means my skin looks radiant. Wooft.

On to eyes, I seem to have found a no-fail routine that I’m sticking with – and it involves my newest palette, the Stila In The Moment Palette (£25). I’ve been obsessed with my In The Light palette for as long as I can remember, and this dreamy number looked like the perfect way to refresh my shadows for the season. I tend to wear the light shimmer shades over my lid (no change there), and then work in the two bronze/plum shimmers on the bottom right, in to the crease. These are warm without being too pink, and they really compliment my eyes without making me look like I’ve got conjunctivitis. The plum is a really nice addition to the look, and I have to say it’s slightly out there for me – brave.

Next, I take my much loved Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle (£20) in Smokey Topaz and smudge a small amount in to my lower lashes. This is a Kate staple, I never do smokey eyes without a bit of smudge and go action. To avoid making my eyes look too harsh, I only go along 3/4 of the eye – leaving the inner section clear of liner.
I then take a bit more of a highlighter shade from the palette and tap it in to the inner corners of my eyes and a little on my brow bone too. It makes all the different to the peepers.

Finally, I go for some seriously long, thick lashes – I use the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers (£20) and my Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara (£18) – yup, nothing new here but if it ain’t broke… I swear by these two products for super lashes. Holy moly.

I went for a dark nude/mauve hue on my lips, this shade is so flattering… and also limited edition. It’s the Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipstick in Nude Pink (£19.50), but there’s lots of similar shades so head in to the counter and have a swatch! It’s my everyday shade at the moment.

What do you think of this easy evening routine?
