I always tell myself that I’m going to just choose three or four products to go in to these weekly posts but it always ends up with me trying to squeeze in a couple more, or choosing products that I had already included in last week’s post – nightmare.
I have to say this lot have been favourites of mine for longer than just this past week, but they’ve really stuck out to me lately. I’ve mentioned before my love of the Evo Mister Fantastic Texture Spray but oh my god, this stuff is seriously great for having on hand to boost and add volume to flat hair – even after going blonde, my hair is still super soft and hard to manage but a few pumps of this helps it to look thick and full. It’s definitely the best product I’ve tried for injecting thickness and life, though I’ve never really heard of the brand. Hopefully with some more support they’ll make their way in to some of the online beauty stores as they currently only sell from their website as far as I can see.
I really love spraying this in to my fringe, it helps it to look thicker and it sits better and doesn’t look limp or greasy within a few hours – a definite must have. I find my hair still looks shiny after use and it also has thermal protection (plus it’s only £13 – woop!).
Also on my ‘long time love’ list is this MAC Eyeshadow in Mulch, something I always reach for my MAC palette for when I’m heading out because it’s just so easy to blend in to the lid and smudge under the lower lashes and you’re good to go (well, not without lashings of mascara of course). I don’t usually go with shadows with warm tones but this isn’t obvious at all and doesn’t seem to make my pink complexion more pink, and I think bronze shadows really bring out blue eyes (and probably most eye colours to be honest). It’s quite a rich, smokey colour but perfect for layering up before going out.
I have three new products that I’ve been testing out this month that most certainly deserve a lot of praise. The first is the new YSL Rebel Nudes Glossy Stains, seen here in the beautiful 103, these are a new range of shades of the popular Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres, which are the glossy but very pigmented lip stains/glosses YSL do. I have to say I’m not usually a glossy girl, I find products like this a little sticky but these really are just wonderful – the colours are meant be be a bolder take on your usual nudes, which I really like the idea of. They’re still wearable but with more of a pop and they last incredibly well. I was wearing this shade here.
Another newbie comes in the form of the new Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer, these are actually out in October but of course you can already get them on Superdrug (3 for 2) which seems to stick to no ones rules but their own – good news for us. I have to say that I love Bourjois releases at the moment, they can do no wrong in my eyes! This complexion enhancing primer adds a simple but noticeable glow to the skin and lifts the face, leaving skin feeling soft and hydrated. It’s not shimmery or over the top and really results in a more refined texture to the skin, perfect for under foundation. There’s also a Matte version which I like to apply on my cheeks first as it leaves my pores looking like they don’t even exist!
Finally, my love for this L’Occitane Divine Cream simply cannot go unnoticed. This is probably more for older skin but I am addicted to it now, it really leaves my skin feeling oh so soft and really, really dewy and illuminated. I’ve been using it at night, a few times a week and I love how hydrated my skin has been feeling, it’s not at all rich and really makes a difference to my complexion after just a few uses. It’s also meant to help reduce dark spots and marks and I’m really suffering from uneven tone at the moment so here’s hoping! Will definitely be whizzing up a full review on this because it’s super lovely – one thing to note though is that a little goes a long way, so although it’s pricey I reckon you would get a little more use out of it than your average moisturiser.
