The Birthday Weekend.
I thought I’d share a few snaps of the weekend of Jordan’s birthday, I’ve already mentioned it in yesterday’s post but here are a few more non-Instagram photos. After getting my amazing 40mm lens, I can take my SLR out with me and not worry about it too much as the pancake lens makes it so slim!
So to start the birthday weekend (Jordan’s birthday was on Monday 24th), on Sunday we met up with friends and had lunch and drinks at my favourite burger place, Nice n Sleazys. Just look at those burgers – you have to dismantle to eat but they’re incredible. The boys can squish them down and eat ’em like a normal burger but I can’t – I wouldn’t even risk it because it would end in (burger) tears all down me. You can see the boys are anxious to tuck in but I’m snapping away, of course. After that huge lunch, we went across the road to one of our favourite bars for an afternoon/evening booze and to look after our food babies – I almost had to take off my belt hahaha.
We headed to the West End near our old flat for a gig at Oran Mor. This is a big old church that is now a bar/venue/club – we saw Mystery Jets here last year and it was phenomenal! The gig was actually an all-day festival but we went for one band and one band only, The Twilight Sad. I mentioned yesterday that they’re an amazing Scottish band that I’ve been in to since my teens, I really recommend giving them a listen. That accent!
We finished up the night with a cocktail or two at Slouch on Bath St before calling it a night!
On Monday, I woke Jordan up with a poem (in a card, it’s a tradition and oh so funny) and then made him have a treasure hunt around the flat for his presents. We had a big breakfast and had quite a lazy day as we’d done the family thing a few days before. For dinner, we headed to Republic Bier Halle, a German style beer and pizza place in a basement – Bier Halle does the best pizzas I’ve ever tried so obviously we had to line our stomachs with some good quality German beer and a pizza each. If you’re ever in Glasgow, I recommend a trip here – the atmosphere is laid back and the place is really cool.
Jordan wanted to head to his favourite Tingle Shooter Bar around the corner for some Apple Pie shots before we headed home to prep for the party. Tingle looks a little like a restaurant as there’s a huge menu behind the bar listing all the shots. I play it safe with Cookies & Cream, Peanut Butter & Jelly (just alcoholic combinations of spirits that taste like flavours) but Jordan always gets the Mad Scientist. Do you really want to know what’s in here? I’ll tell you – Absinthe, Tequilla, Sambuca and Tabasco Sauce in a shot glass. Yep.
Finally, we headed home to decorate the flat and make some awesome strawberry cocktails in the blender, which of course I slurped up quickly. We had a little party at the flat before heading out, it was probably one of my favourite nights out ever – there was a bouncy castle inside the club! Not the first time I’ve done this while being under the influence, but I kicked off my shoes, handed my drink to Jordan and us girls had a bounce around until we were lying in a tangled heap in the back corner. Hilarious!
As you can imagine, Tuesday was spent watching films on the couch all day. Lots of water! I hope you enjoyed the pictures!
